Our warehouse operation is a vital part of that success. Every day, it ensures products are received, stored and dispatched accurately and efficiently, helping us deliver the high standards of service our customers have come to expect. The site also has significant spare pallet capacity, which we intend to develop into a professionally managed storage service for third-party customers. We are now looking to appoint an experienced Warehouse Operations Manager to lead and develop our warehouse operation in Manvers, Rotherham. We are looking for someone who wants more than simply running a warehouse. The successful candidate will improve processes, develop the team, maintain high operational standards and take commercial responsibility for growing and managing our third-party pallet-storage activity. The role As Warehouse Operations Manager, you will take full responsibility for leading and managing the warehouse team, ensuring the warehouse operates efficiently, safely and professionally every day. This is a genuine hands-on management role. Whilst your primary responsibility is to lead and manage the warehouse operation, you will also be prepared to support the team whenever operational demands require it. We are looking for someone who leads by example, enjoys solving problems, takes pride in maintaining exceptionally high standards and is committed to continuous improvement. Working closely with the senior management team, you will influence the future development of the operation, including the commercial use of spare warehouse capacity, while improving processes, developing the team and maintaining excellent service standards. Key responsibilities and duties · Lead the day-to-day warehouse operation and provide leadership, support and direction to the warehouse team. · Ensure customer orders are accurately picked, packed and dispatched on time. · Manage warehouse transactions using our Odoo ERP system, ensuring goods receipts, stock movements and dispatches are accurately recorded. · Maintain excellent inventory accuracy through effective warehouse controls and regular stock verification. · Receive, inspect and organise incoming deliveries, including containers, ensuring unloading deadlines, seal controls and associated documentation are properly managed. · Manage UK and international shipments, including export documentation and liaison with freight forwarders and courier companies. · Review freight options to ensure goods are shipped using the most appropriate and cost-effective services. · Review warehouse layouts, stock locations and operational workflows, continually improving organisation, storage systems and workflow to maximise efficiency and capacity. · Develop and manage the third-party pallet-storage operation, making effective commercial use of available warehouse capacity. · Respond to and proactively develop enquiries from potential storage customers; understand their requirements, prepare appropriate proposals and agree arrangements with senior management. · Coordinate third-party stock intake, storage, access and dispatch; maintain accurate customer and inventory records; monitor capacity; and ensure all goods are handled safely, securely and in accordance with agreed terms. · Build professional relationships with storage customers and ensure the service is efficient, responsive and commercially sound. · Take responsibility for the presentation, upkeep and day-to-day maintenance of the warehouse and surrounding site, ensuring the premises remain clean, organised, safe and professionally maintained. · Ensure warehouse equipment is properly maintained and arrange servicing or repairs where required, with an appropriate programme of preventative maintenance. · Ensure compliance with Health and Safety policies and maintain a safe working environment. · Act as a designated key holder, including responsibility for opening and securing the premises and responding to alarm call-outs if required. · Take responsibility for the recruitment, induction, training, performance management and development of warehouse team members, ensuring the operation is supported by a capable, motivated and high-performing team. · Plan staffing and holiday cover, address performance issues promptly and ensure operational continuity during absences and busy periods. · Provide regular operational and commercial updates to senior management, including appropriate performance measures covering order fulfilment, productivity, accuracy, storage occupancy and service levels. · Work alongside the warehouse team during busy periods and wherever operational support is required. · Source and purchase warehouse consumables, ensuring they are fit for purpose, represent good value and are maintained at appropriate stock levels. · Take ownership of practical day-to-day site issues and coordinate contractors or internal support when required. Experience and qualifications · Proven experience as a Warehouse Manager, Warehouse Operations Manager or in a similar warehouse leadership role. · Experience leading, motivating and performance-managing a warehouse team, with strong practical problem-solving ability. · Strong knowledge of warehouse operations, inventory control and order fulfilment. · Experience using an ERP or warehouse management system is essential; experience with Odoo would be advantageous. · Experience managing UK and international logistics, with sound working knowledge of Incoterms, export documentation, container procedures and freight operations. · A good understanding of warehouse Health and Safety requirements. · A current recognised RTITB or equivalent Counterbalance and Reach Truck Operator certificate. · Good IT skills, including confidence using warehouse management software. · A full UK driving licence. · Experience of third-party warehousing, pallet storage, 3PL services or customer-facing commercial activity would be advantageous.
