ArtMix | Indianapolis, Indiana | Full-Time | $70,000 - $80,000

About ArtMix

ArtMix transforms the lives of people with and without disabilities through the creation of art. Through accessible arts education, creative employment, and community partnerships, we empower people of all abilities to express themselves, build skills, and connect with their communities. ArtMix serves nearly 8,000 people annually through five core programs and additional community-based projects.

About the Role

ArtMix is seeking a driven, relationship-oriented VP of Development to lead and grow our fundraising program. Reporting directly to the President & CEO, this person will own the full development process from strategy and prospect research to grant writing, donor cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.

This is a hands-on leadership opportunity for a fundraiser who wants to build something meaningful. You will develop a diversified fundraising program that includes grants, individual and major gifts, corporate sponsorships, annual giving, and fundraising events. You will work closely with the Board of Directors and staff to expand philanthropic support and advance ArtMix's mission.

This position will lead day-to-day fundraising, allowing the CEO to focus on high-level solicitations, key foundation relationships, and strategic partnerships.

Key Responsibilities

  • Fundraising Strategy: Develop and implement annual and multi-year fundraising plans, revenue goals, and measurable performance indicators.
  • Grants & Institutional Giving: Research funding opportunities, write proposals, manage grant deadlines, and maintain funder relationships.
  • Individual & Major Gifts: Build a donor pipeline, cultivate and solicit donors, manage the annual appeal, and develop effective stewardship strategies.
  • Corporate Partnerships: Secure and steward corporate sponsors, particularly for Arts for All Fest, and develop new philanthropic partnerships.
  • Events & Engagement: Lead fundraising strategy for Arts for All Fest and donor cultivation activities, including Winterfest.
  • Board Engagement: Equip Board members to identify prospects, cultivate relationships, solicit gifts, and serve as fundraising ambassadors.
  • Development Operations: Oversee donor records, fundraising systems, and GoFundMe Pro CRM, working with administrative staff on routine data entry and reporting.
  • Fundraising Communications: Develop donor letters, proposals, and impact messaging in collaboration with the Impact & Engagement Director.

Qualifications

  • Typically 4–7 years of experience in fundraising, nonprofit development, sales, business development, or a related field; equivalent experience will be considered.
  • Demonstrated success building relationships and generating revenue through fundraising, grants, sponsorships, or other relationship-based work.
  • Excellent writing, communication, organizational, and project management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities independently and translate strategy into measurable results.
  • A proactive, entrepreneurial approach and comfort making the ask.
  • Commitment to disability inclusion, accessibility, and ArtMix's mission.

A bachelor's degree is not required, but is preferred. Experience in arts, education, disability services, or other mission-driven organizations is a plus.

What Success Looks Like

You build a sustainable, diversified fundraising program; strengthen donor and corporate relationships; increase philanthropic support; and establish systems that position ArtMix for long-term growth. Annual fundraising goals will be established based on experience, organizational priorities, and revenue opportunities, with a long-term goal of reaching $1 million or more in annual contributed revenue.

Compensation: 70,000–80,000, commensurate with experience, plus 21 PTO days, two annual wellness weeks, access to a 403(b) plan, and medical insurance.
