Venue Operations Manager
Victoria Venues operates two event properties in Chicago's northwest suburbs: Victoria in the Park in Mt. Prospect and Mission Hills Club in Northbrook, a private club that has been hosting events since 1926. We host weddings, corporate events, and celebrations, most of them the single most important day of somebody's year. We're hiring a Venue Operations Manager to make sure the building and the event are ready before a single guest walks in, and to be the person in charge on the floor once they do. What you'll do Open the venue on event days and walk every space against a pre-event checklist. Rooms clean, linens on, tables set, restrooms stocked, lights and temperature right, exterior and entry presentable Direct setup, housekeeping, and service staff during the day, and hold them to arrival times, uniform, and service standards Read the BEO and confirm that what sales sold is what's actually in the room Serve as manager on duty during events. Handle problems in the moment. Equipment failures, vendor no-shows, difficult guests, weather. Know who to call and call them Coordinate with the kitchen on timing so courses go out on schedule Close the venue, secure the building, and set up the next day's team for success Document incidents and maintenance issues, and follow up until they're actually resolved Track inventory of linens, china, glassware, and equipment, and flag what needs replacing before it's a problem What we're looking for Three or more years management experience in hospitality, events, banquets, a venue, a club, or a hotel's event operations Someone who walks into a room and immediately sees the chair that's out of line, the burnt out bulb, the smudged glass Hospitality in your bones. We welcome all our guests as if they are family in our home. Calm under pressure. On a Saturday night wedding with 300 guests, there's a lot of moving parts, and even when things go wrong, we need our team to be calm and steady.
