Training + Development Lead
# Training + Development Lead **Etro Construction Limited** · Vancouver, BC · `On-site` 🕒 **Статус:** *Опубликовано: сегодня* · *Источник: Indeed* --- ### About the Role We Build Cool Sh*t with Great People. That's one of the first things you'll see when you walk into ETRO's head office. It's more than a slogan, it's how we choose projects, hire people, and approach construction. After an incredible first decade, we're entering our next stage of growth. And we keep saying the same thing: we're just getting started. As we expand across British Columbia, we're looking for a Training + Development Lead who will build the learning foundation that helps our people grow with us. Why This Role Matters Our rapid growth has outpaced the way we train and onboard. This is a brand-new, in-house role created to change that. You'll design and build ETRO's training and development function from the ground up, so every new hire, from the office to the field, gets a consistent, high-quality experience and a clear path to grow their career. THIS IS ETRO We're not your typical construction company, and that's intentional. We're builders, innovators, and problem-solvers who believe there's always a better way. We're people-first, fast-paced, collaborative, technology-driven, and we have fun doing it. We work hard, play hard, and have each other's backs. ABOUT YOU - You have built a training and development function from scratch, not just managed an existing one, and you're energized by the chance to do it again. - You're a natural relationship builder who can flex your style, whether you're in front of a field crew or a boardroom. - You're autonomous and comfortable with ambiguity. You can take a blank page, assess what's there, and turn it into a clear plan. - You're practical and approachable, not rigid or overly formal. You meet people where they are. - You thrive in a fast-paced, growing environment where priorities shift and you can adapt quickly. - You're hands-on and ready to roll up your sleeves, from writing SOPs to facilitating a session. ABOUT THE ROLE As Training + Development Lead, you'll report to our People and Culture Manager and partner with department directors, the Health and Safety team, and leaders across the company. In your first six months, you'll assess the current state of training across ETRO and develop a strategic plan, almost consultant-style. From there, you'll move into building, rolling out, and maintaining standardized programs for office staff, field crew, trades, and leadership. This role has no immediate direct reports, but we expect the team to grow, with a path into a Learning + Development Manager role as ETRO scales. A DAY IN THE LIFE - Training Strategy: Assess current training practices, identify gaps with department leaders, and build a clear, scalable training and development plan. - Program Development: Create standardized, role-specific training programs and onboarding competencies, including SOPs, manuals, presentations, and digital resources. - Delivery: Facilitate training sessions and workshops at head office and on site, and coordinate external facilitators, vendors, and subject matter experts. - Systems: Research and implement the right learning management and tracking tools, building on our existing Whale platform. - Accountability + Reporting: Track training completion, participation, and effectiveness, and report progress and gaps to leadership. - Safety Partnership: Work with our Health and Safety Manager, who owns safety training content, to structure, track, and report on safety and compliance training. - Leadership + Career Growth: Support leadership development, cross-training, mentorship, and clear growth pathways so our people can see their future at ETRO WHAT YOU BRING - 3–5 years of experience in a lead or senior Training and Development or Learning and Development role. - Proven experience building training programs and processes from scratch. - Hands-on skills in developing SOPs, managing an LMS, facilitation, and designing programs end-to-end. - Excellent communication, documentation, and relationship-building skills. - Experience in construction, or another industry with an office and field mix (such as manufacturing, utilities, industrial, or healthcare), is a strong asset. - A diploma or degree in Human Resources, Training and Development, Education, or a related field is an asset. Hands-on experience matters most. - Experience with Whale is an asset. Experience with other training, SOP, or LMS platforms is valued. OUR COMMITMENT TO YOU We’re committed to our team and taking care of our people. In addition to joining an organization that values you, your contributions, and your growth, some of the benefits you will receive include: - Competitive compensation: $90,000 – $100,000 , based on experience. - Potential bonus (profitability and KPI-based) plus annual salary reviews. - Car/travel allowance for site visits. - 3 weeks' vacation, plus a soft office close from Christmas Eve to January 2 (no PTO required). - 2 personal health days and 5 sick days. - $500/year health & wellness allowance (after 1 year). - 3% RSP matching (after 1 year). - $2,000/year professional development budget, available from day one. - Flex Fridays from Canada Day through the September long weekend. - A genuine path for growth into a management role as ETRO expands. - A tight-knit, collaborative team that works hard, plays hard, and has each other's backs.
