Due to continuous growth, we are looking for a highly motivated, hands-on Trainee Garage Door Technician to join our tight-knit installation teams Monday - Friday 7:30am Start. The Role This is a field-based, active role. You will not be sitting at a computer or in a classroom. From Day 1, you will be out on the road as part of a two-man team, working directly alongside an experienced engineer to learn our specialist trade from the ground up. While you will learn to install new doors, the main focus of this role is carrying out routine servicing, diagnostics, and mechanical repairs on existing garage doors. This role requires a dedicated professional with a strong work ethic. We operate a firm attendance policy; you must be punctual, reliable, and ready to meet the physical demands of loading vans, manufacturing, and on-site installations across the South East. Key Responsibilities: Service & Repairs: Carry out mechanical repairs, spring tensioning, cable replacements, and routine maintenance. Diagnostics: Troubleshoot and fix automation, receiver, and electrical control panel faults on site. Installation: Assist in fitting bespoke roller and sectional garage doors to an exceptionally high standard. Customer Service: Represent Bulldog Garage Doors professionally when interacting with domestic homeowners. What We Need From You (Skills & Experience): Full Manual UK Driving Licence (Strictly Essential): You must be legally able to drive our company transit vans. Locality & Commute (Strictly Essential): You must reside within the Medway Towns (e.g., Sittingbourne, Gillingham, Rainham, Chatham, Rochester, or Strood). Because our installation teams depart early from our Upchurch factory (Coltsfield, Poot Lane), candidates living outside this immediate radius will not be considered. Transferable Trade Background (Highly Desirable): Proven hands-on experience in construction-related roles such as carpentry, window fitting/double glazing, garage mechanics, rendering, or plumbing. If you know how to use power tools safely, measure precisely, and solve practical site problems, we can teach you the rest. Physical Fitness: This is a heavy, manual role involving heavy lifting, loading components, and working at heights on ladders.
