Who we are
Moorgate Finance Limited is a well-established and continuously evolving commercial finance brokerage. We aim to become a one-stop shop for commercial finance, and in turn the biggest and best brokerage in the UK market. We recently celebrated our tenth anniversary, and in that time we have facilitated over £800 million of funding. Our head office is in Towcester. This role is based in our Cambridge office, at the heart of one of the UK's most productive farming regions, where we are building a dedicated agricultural finance team.
The role
- Build strong, long-term relationships with farmers, growers, estates, contractors and agri-businesses. You'll take a consultative approach and give expert financial advice to help them invest, diversify and grow.
- Arrange funding across the agricultural cycle, including machinery and equipment finance (tractors, combines, sprayers, precision-farming technology), working capital and seasonal cashflow, livestock and infrastructure, land and property, and renewable energy projects.
- Support customers with diversification projects such as farm shops, holiday lets, storage, solar and anaerobic digestion, helping them build resilient income streams.
- Prospect proactively across the agricultural sector through targeted marketing plans, attendance at agricultural shows and industry events, and relationships with machinery dealers, land agents and agricultural accountants.
- Keep up to date with market trends, including commodity prices, changes to agricultural support schemes, input costs and new technology, so you can anticipate customers' needs and act on opportunities.
- Meet and exceed revenue targets. This is a target-driven sales role.
- Maintain, cleanse and grow our purpose-built CRM system so that records stay accurate, which improves operational efficiency and makes things smoother for both the team and our customers.
- Process your customers' finance requirements from start to finish. That includes writing the credit paper, presenting farm accounts and seasonal cashflows clearly, and advising on credit placement with our internal underwriting team. Throughout, you'll focus on the best outcome for the customer while maximising margins.
- Work closely with our marketing department to establish Moorgate as the go-to finance partner for UK agriculture.
Who we are looking for
We are looking for a forward-thinking, proactive salesperson who wants to win new business and build lasting client relationships within the farming community. The ideal candidate wants to build a career in finance, and we offer a market-leading remuneration structure to match. You'll be comfortable speaking with decision makers at every level, from family farm owners and estate managers to finance directors of large agri-businesses. You'll also be able to adapt your style easily, whether you're in a farmhouse kitchen or a boardroom.
An understanding of, or genuine interest in, agriculture and rural business is a real advantage. A farming background, agricultural qualification or experience selling into the sector would make you stand out. Experience in finance is not essential because full training will be provided. Ideally you will have at least two years of sales experience and a proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets. A full UK driving licence is required, as the role includes visits to customers' sites.
What we can offer you
We operate a market-leading commission structure that gives the right person the opportunity to build substantial earnings within their first few years in the industry. We also focus on developing our people's careers. Every team leader in our sales team started with us as a trainee and progressed into leadership, supported by one-to-one management training delivered both in-house and by external training partners. We believe that if you take care of your employees, they will take care of you, and we make decisions with this in mind. Our benefits include a pension scheme, life and critical illness cover, and BUPA private medical cover for you and your family.
