TEMP Family Self-Sufficiency Project Manager for the Division of Program Policy & Innovation
About the Agency:
The New York City Department of Housing Preservation Development (HPD) promotes quality and affordability in the city's housing, and diversity and strength in the city’s neighborhoods because every New Yorker deserves a safe, affordable place to live in a neighborhood they love.
- We maintain building and resident safety and health
- We create opportunities for New Yorkers through housing affordability
- We engage New Yorkers to build and sustain neighborhood strength and diversity.
Your Team The Office of Housing Access and Stability (“HAS”) consists of the divisions of Housing Opportunity, Tenant and Owner Resources, Housing Stability, Budget and Program Operations, and Program Policy and Innovation. The mission of the office is to ensure fair, efficient, and transparent access to affordable housing. The Office provides subsidies, placement services, and tools that connect New Yorkers to affordable housing and ensures vulnerable households in subsidized housing have the support they need to be safely housed. Housing Access is committed to expanding housing choices, affirmatively furthering fair housing, and stabilizing the financial health of buildings.
The Division of Program Policy and Innovation (DPPI) will provide support across the Office of Housing Access and Stability (HAS) to coordinate policy development and analysis, support implementation of new rules and regulations, monitor program integrity and compliance and improve outcomes for program participants beyond affordable housing. The Family Self-Sufficiency (FSS) Program provides financial rewards and coordinate support to help participants achieve their employment related goals over the course of five years. The program partners with other organizations to offer education, job training, job placement and financial literacy services. Participants are offered a financial incentive for employment through a monthly matching of any increase in the household’s tenant share of rent due to employment. More information on HPD’s program can be found at www.nyc.gov/hpd/fss.
Your Impact:
HPD is seeking temporary Project Managers to help with two significant initiatives that will expand resources available to participants. Project managers will analyze the data collected for existing and past participants to identify program strengths, identify barriers expressed by participants and will develop an electronic set of resources available by geography, by education level and by industry of interest to participants. The Project Managers will also reach out to agencies across the city and with the support of the Director of Special Programs and the Assistant Commissioner for PPI to coordinate with other FSS programs in the City to reinvigorate the FSS Program Coordinating Committee.
Additionally, the Project Manager will lead in the planning of a Graduation Ceremony that includes members of the Coordinating committee and graduates of the program. Additionally, the project manager will create a template for planning other smaller scale events to better engage participants in the program. Project managers will work closely with the full FSS team and engage in needs assessment reviews with the team to collect resource needs and provide those resources in formats that are helpful to the team.
