As our organization continues to grow, we are seeking a highly organized, self-directed, and detail-oriented Technical Writer – Policy & Procedure Specialist to lead the development, maintenance, and enhancement of the Firm's comprehensive Policies and Procedures Handbook. This role will partner closely with executive leadership, managers, and staff across all departments to document, standardize, and improve operational, compliance, and technical processes. The ideal candidate is a skilled communicator who can translate complex information into clear, user-friendly documentation while independently managing multiple projects and priorities. Position Summary The Technical Writer – Policy & Procedure Specialist will be responsible for developing, organizing, and maintaining firm-wide policies, procedures, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and training materials. This position plays a critical role in ensuring consistency, operational efficiency, compliance, and knowledge sharing throughout the organization. The successful candidate will collaborate with stakeholders across all business units to gather information, document workflows, identify process improvement opportunities, and support change management initiatives. This role requires strong writing, project management, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Key Responsibilities Develop, edit, and maintain policies, procedures, SOPs, workflow documentation, and training materials. Consolidate department-specific documents into a centralized firm-wide Policies and Procedures Handbook, including addendums and documentation updates. Manage change-control processes and ensure documentation remains current with operational and client requirements. Conduct interviews and information-gathering sessions with stakeholders across all business units. Independently manage documentation projects, timelines, follow-up activities, and deliverables. Review existing processes to identify gaps, inconsistencies, and opportunities for standardization and improvement. Support organizational change initiatives through effective documentation and communication of process updates. Translate complex operational, compliance, and technical concepts into clear, concise, and user-friendly documentation. Establish and maintain documentation standards, formatting consistency, and version-control practices. Partner with leadership to ensure policies and procedures align with organizational goals, regulatory requirements, and client expectations. Create and update training materials to support employee onboarding and continuous learning initiatives. Maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive business, client, employee, and operational information. Qualifications Required Bachelor's degree in Technical Writing, English, Communications, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience. Strong technical writing, editing, proofreading, and communication skills. Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail. Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Strong project management, follow-up, and time-management skills. Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities. Ability to gather information from diverse stakeholders and accurately document complex processes. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with employees at all levels, from frontline staff to executive leadership. Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Preferred Experience developing policies, procedures, compliance documentation, technical documentation, or process documentation. Experience supporting process improvement, operational excellence, or change management initiatives. Experience working in a law firm, professional services environment, financial services organization, or other regulated industry. Familiarity with document management systems and version-control processes. Experience creating training materials and employee reference resources. Knowledge of compliance, risk management, or operational governance practices. Technical Skills Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Teams. Strong document formatting, editing, and proofreading capabilities. Experience with document management systems and collaborative documentation tools is preferred. Ability to organize and maintain large volumes of documentation with accuracy and consistency.
