# TECHNICAL SUPERINTENDENT – DRY BULK CARRIERS **John Clements Recruitment Inc.- Japan Desk** · Malate · `On-site` 🕒 **Статус:** *Опубликовано: 4 дня назад* · *Источник: Indeed* --- ### About the Role We are looking for an experienced Technical Superintendent to oversee the technical operations and maintenance of the company’s dry bulk carrier fleet . This is a replacement hire for the current Technical Superintendent and will be responsible for ensuring the assigned vessels remain safe, reliable, compliant, and operationally efficient. The role requires strong shore-based technical management experience, as well as previous sailing experience at the Chief Engineer or First Engineer level . Key Responsibilities: Technical Vessel Management - Provide overall technical supervision and support for assigned vessels. - Issue clear and properly documented technical instructions to shipboard teams. - Monitor vessel machinery, equipment, and hull condition. - Ensure technical defects and deficiencies are promptly and effectively rectified. - Maintain regular communication with vessels and provide technical guidance on urgent and routine matters. Dry-Docking & Major Repairs - Plan and oversee dry-docking, special surveys, and major repair projects . - Coordinate repair activities to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and according to required technical standards. - Monitor the progress, quality, and cost of repair and maintenance works. Compliance & Inspections - Ensure assigned vessels comply with Class, Flag State, Port State Control (PSC), and ISM Code requirements. - Conduct vessel inspections and internal technical audits in accordance with company requirements. - Follow up on inspection findings, deficiencies, and corrective actions. - Ensure proper documentation and reporting of technical matters. Safety & Incident Management - Promote a proactive onboard safety culture aligned with the company’s goal of ZERO Incident, ZERO Injury, and ZERO Casualty . - Investigate technical incidents and recommend appropriate preventive and corrective measures. - Support continuous improvement of vessel safety and technical performance. Budget & Cost Management - Review and approve technical requisitions. - Monitor vessel operating budgets and technical expenditures. - Identify opportunities for cost savings while maintaining safety, compliance, and vessel reliability. - Provide management with regular updates on vessel technical status and expenditure. Crew Performance & Development - Evaluate the performance of shipboard engineering officers. - Identify crew training and development needs. - Support the improvement of engineering officers' technical performance and competency. Reporting & Fuel Compliance - Prepare regular technical status reports and provide required technical data to management. - Provide necessary data for EU Fuel settlement / EU fuel penalty requirements, as requested by Charterers and Owners. - Maintain accurate and timely technical records and documentation. Emergency Support - Maintain 24/7 availability for urgent technical matters involving assigned vessels. - Respond promptly to technical emergencies and vessel requests, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays . Qualifications – MUST HAVE - At least 12 months of sailing experience as a Chief Engineer or First Engineer onboard a dry cargo vessel . - Minimum 12 months of shore-based experience as a Technical Superintendent . - Strong knowledge of Class, Flag State, Port State Control (PSC), and ISM Code requirements . - Proven experience overseeing dry-docking, special surveys, and major repair projects . - Able to maintain 24/7 availability and respond promptly to urgent technical matters from vessels. - Strong technical, analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills. Preferred / Better Qualifications - Specific experience managing dry bulk carriers . - Familiarity with EU Fuel, EU MRV, and FuelEU compliance/reporting . - Experience managing vessel operating budgets and implementing cost-saving initiatives . - Experience working with international shipowners, charterers, Class societies, or Flag State authorities. Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate is an experienced Chief Engineer / First Engineer turned Technical Superintendent with strong dry cargo or dry bulk vessel experience and a proven track record in vessel maintenance, dry-docking, compliance, and technical management. Priority will be given to candidates with dry bulk carrier experience. Pay: Php133,000.00 - Php200,000.00 per month Work Location: In person
