JOB PURPOSE The Technical Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the technical and operational activities of the company's solar energy projects, ensuring that installations, commissioning, operations, maintenance, and technical support are delivered safely, efficiently, reliably, and in accordance with approved engineering standards, project specifications, applicable laws, and industry best practices. The position provides technical leadership to engineering, project, field, and maintenance teams and works closely with internal departments, clients, contractors, suppliers, utilities, and other stakeholders to ensure optimal performance and availability of solar energy systems. II. KEY RESPONSIBILITIESA. Technical Operations Management Lead and oversee the day-to-day technical operations of solar PV projects, including commercial, industrial, residential, and/or utility-scale installations. Ensure solar PV systems, equipment, and related facilities operate safely, reliably, and efficiently. Establish and implement technical operating procedures, standards, and controls. Monitor system performance, energy generation, equipment availability, and operational efficiency. Review technical issues and provide timely corrective and preventive actions. Identify opportunities to improve system performance, reliability, and operational efficiency. B. Project Technical Oversight Provide technical support and oversight throughout the project lifecycle, from design and procurement through installation, testing, commissioning, and turnover. Review engineering designs, drawings, specifications, calculations, equipment selections, and technical documentation. Ensure projects comply with approved designs, specifications, quality standards, and applicable regulatory requirements. Coordinate with Engineering and Project Management teams on technical requirements, design changes, and site issues. Participate in project inspections, testing, commissioning, and final acceptance. C. Operations & Maintenance Develop and oversee preventive and corrective maintenance programs for solar PV systems and associated equipment. Ensure timely troubleshooting and resolution of equipment failures and operational issues. Monitor the performance and condition of major system components, including: Solar PV modules Inverters Transformers Switchgear and protection systems Monitoring/SCADA systems Battery energy storage systems, where applicable Electrical and mechanical balance-of-system components Establish maintenance schedules, inspection protocols, and equipment performance standards. Analyze recurring equipment failures and implement measures to prevent recurrence. Ensure proper documentation of maintenance activities, incidents, repairs, and system performance. D. Performance Monitoring & Technical Analysis Monitor key performance indicators such as energy yield, system availability, performance ratio, downtime, and equipment efficiency. Analyze operational and performance data to identify trends, losses, abnormalities, and potential system issues. Prepare technical reports and recommendations for management and clients. Lead root-cause analysis of significant technical failures and performance deviations. Recommend system upgrades, modifications, or optimization measures where appropriate. E. Health, Safety, Environment & Quality Ensure all technical and field activities comply with company HSE policies and applicable occupational safety requirements. Promote a strong safety culture among technical, engineering, maintenance, and field personnel. Ensure appropriate risk assessments, permits, toolbox meetings, and safety procedures are implemented. Ensure work is performed in accordance with approved quality standards and procedures. Investigate technical incidents, equipment failures, and safety-related events and recommend corrective actions. F. People Management Lead, supervise, and develop technical operations personnel, engineers, technicians, and field teams. Assign responsibilities and establish clear performance expectations. Conduct regular performance monitoring and provide coaching and technical guidance. Identify training and competency requirements of technical personnel. Build a technically competent and responsive operations team. Ensure adequate manpower, tools, equipment, and resources are available to support operations. G. Contractors, Suppliers & Stakeholder Management Manage and coordinate technical activities involving contractors, subcontractors, equipment suppliers, service providers, and consultants. Evaluate technical proposals, methodologies, and service requirements. Monitor contractor performance against agreed technical, safety, quality, and schedule requirements. Coordinate with equipment manufacturers and suppliers for warranty claims, troubleshooting, technical support, and replacement requirements. Maintain effective working relationships with clients and other project stakeholders. H. Regulatory & Technical Compliance Ensure solar projects comply with applicable Philippine laws, regulations, codes, standards, and permitting requirements. Coordinate with relevant government agencies, utilities, clients, and other authorities on technical matters, as required. Ensure required technical records, certificates, test reports, permits, and compliance documentation are properly maintained. Keep abreast of developments in solar technology, electrical standards, safety requirements, and renewable energy regulations. I. Budget & Resource Management Assist in the preparation and management of technical operations and maintenance budgets. Monitor operational expenditures and identify opportunities for cost optimization without compromising safety, quality, or system reliability. Evaluate technical alternatives and recommend cost-effective solutions. Ensure proper utilization and control of tools, equipment, spare parts, and technical resources. J. Reporting & Documentation Prepare regular technical and operational reports for management. Maintain accurate records of system performance, maintenance activities, incidents, equipment failures, and corrective actions. Ensure proper turnover and maintenance of technical documentation, including as-built drawings, equipment manuals, warranties, test results, and commissioning records. Establish and maintain a centralized technical knowledge base and documentation system. III. QUALIFICATIONSEducation Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Renewable Energy Engineering , or a related engineering field. Licensed Professional Engineer in the Philippines is preferred, particularly for roles requiring professional engineering accountability. Experience At least 5–8 years of relevant experience in solar energy, renewable energy, electrical engineering, power systems, EPC, O&M, or related industries. At least 2–3 years in a supervisory or managerial capacity . Experience in solar PV project development, installation, commissioning, operations, and maintenance is highly preferred. Experience managing technical teams, contractors, and multiple project sites is an advantage.
