About the role

Grun Me Contracting LLC is seeking a Technical Engineer – Landscaping and Pools to take ownership of technical deliverables across assigned projects, coordinate the drafting team and provide practical engineering support to site operations.

The successful candidate will drive shop drawing production, technical submissions and approvals; resolve interfaces between landscape, structural and MEP works; and ensure coordinated information is issued in time for procurement and construction. This is a hands-on role requiring sound technical judgement, close attention to actual site conditions and the ability to turn design information into clear, buildable details.

Working closely with the Technical Manager, Operations and project teams, the engineer will be accountable for the accuracy, completeness and timely delivery of assigned technical work, identifying issues early and following them through to resolution.

The position is primarily office-based, with site visits and coordination meetings as required.

Key responsibilities

• Take ownership of technical deliverables across multiple projects, prioritising work against procurement and construction programmes.
• Supervise draftsmen, allocate tasks, review drawing quality and ensure submissions meet agreed deadlines.
• Review IFC drawings, specifications, BOQs and site information to identify discrepancies, missing details and scope interfaces.
• Prepare, check and coordinate shop drawings covering hardscape, softscape, irrigation, swimming pools and water features.
• Coordinate landscape layouts and levels with architectural, structural and MEP works, including drainage, manholes, underground services, equipment and access requirements.
• Verify site dimensions and levels with survey and execution teams before finalising drawings.
• Raise RFIs, propose practical solutions and follow up with consultants and project teams until technical issues are resolved.
• Prepare and manage material submittals, compliance statements, technical comparisons and responses to consultant comments.
• Coordinate specialist suppliers and subcontractors for irrigation, pool systems, filtration, pumps, piping and water features.
• Support procurement by confirming technical requirements, approved materials and drawing information before orders are placed.
• Identify design changes and scope deviations, maintain supporting records and notify the QS and project manager of potential cost and programme impacts.
• Support method statements and resolve technical comments arising during inspections or construction.
• Maintain drawing and submission registers, monitor outstanding approvals and ensure site teams receive current approved documents.
• Attend coordination meetings and track actions through to closure.
• Coordinate as-built drawings, operation and maintenance manuals and technical handover documentation.

Qualifications and essential experience

• Minimum 5 years of relevant landscaping technical experience including independent project coordination and supervision of draftsmen.
• Proven ability to independently coordinate technical deliverables across several projects simultaneously.
• Previous experience supervising draftsmen and checking shop drawings before submission.
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture or Mechanical Engineering preferred . A relevant engineering or architectural diploma supported by substantial directly applicable landscaping technical experience will also be considered.
• Strong understanding of hardscape construction, external levels, falls, drainage, planter construction, waterproofing interfaces and irrigation.
• Working knowledge of swimming pool and water feature systems, with the ability to coordinate specialist designs and suppliers.
• Ability to interpret and coordinate architectural, structural, civil, MEP and landscape drawings.
• Strong AutoCAD and Microsoft Excel skills.
• Experience managing RFIs, material submissions, consultant comments and drawing approvals.
• Clear written English, sound technical judgement and effective organisation.

Preferred experience

• UAE landscaping projects involving villas, residential communities or hospitality developments.
• Swimming pools, water features, pump rooms and filtration systems.
• Revit or Civil 3D.
• Technical support for variations, value engineering and procurement.

Working relationships

Work closely with the Technical Manager, Operations, project teams and draftsmen to resolve technical issues and deliver coordinated drawings and submissions.
