This position would suit a highly experienced senior engineer, supervisor or technical manager who is ready to progress into a broader management role while remaining closely involved with systems, engineers and customers. You will help manage a portfolio of commercial and public sector contracts across the South East. The role combines technical support, contract management, surveys, customer meetings, quality control and day to day support for our engineers and office team. This is not a purely desk based management position. We need somebody who understands the systems, can attend sites when required, confidently support engineers and deal professionally with customers. About Lantern Lantern Fire and Security Ltd is a well established national fire and security company. We are accredited by NSI Gold and BAFE and are a recognised Honeywell Gent partner. Our customers include NHS Trusts, universities, local authorities, warehouses, banks and major commercial organisations. The role Your responsibilities will include: Managing the day to day delivery of key fire and security contracts across the South Building strong working relationships with customers, site contacts and facilities teams Attending client meetings and contract review meetings Supporting engineers with technical queries, difficult faults and site issues Helping the office team plan work, resolve problems and communicate with customers Monitoring outstanding jobs, remedial works, quotations and service performance Carrying out technical surveys and preparing clear information for quotations and system designs Reviewing service reports and identifying required remedial works Ensuring works are completed safely, professionally and in accordance with the relevant standards Supporting the allocation and coordination of engineering resources Investigating complaints, service failures and recurring technical problems Carrying out site inspections and quality audits Assisting with contract mobilisation and asset verification Monitoring contract performance, response times and customer requirements Helping engineers develop their technical knowledge and working standards Escalating commercial, operational and compliance risks to senior management You will work closely with our Operations Director, Service Manager, Projects team, compliance team and South office staff. What we are looking for We are looking for somebody with strong practical fire and security experience who is comfortable progressing into a customer facing management position. You should have: Considerable experience as a fire and security engineer, senior engineer, supervisor or technical manager Strong fire alarm service and fault finding knowledge Good working knowledge of intruder alarms, CCTV and access control systems Experience working on commercial, industrial or public sector sites The ability to survey systems and identify service, repair and upgrade requirements A good understanding of relevant fire and security standards The confidence to support and guide engineers A professional and confident approach in customer meetings Good organisation and communication skills The ability to manage competing priorities and follow issues through to completion Good computer skills, including Microsoft Office and electronic job management systems The ability to prepare clear reports, emails and survey information A full UK driving licence Experience with any of the following would be beneficial: Honeywell Gent Advanced Kentec Notifier Protec Galaxy Texecom Hikvision Paxton Working within an NSI Gold or BAFE accredited company Managing NHS, education, local authority or large commercial contracts This role may suit you if you are currently working as a: Senior Fire and Security Engineer Fire and Security Supervisor Technical Supervisor Service Supervisor Technical Manager Assistant Contracts Manager Fire and Security Contracts Manager What we offer Basic salary of £50,000 to £55,000 depending on experience Company car or vehicle Fuel card Company laptop and mobile phone 23 days holiday plus bank holidays Holiday buyback scheme Company pension Health and wellbeing support Ongoing manufacturer and technical training Support from an experienced operations and compliance team Clear opportunity to develop further within the business Monday to Friday, 08:30 to 17:00 No domestic work The position will involve travel throughout the South East, with occasional travel elsewhere for customer meetings, training and business requirements.
