Our expertise covers the full EO value chain, from instrument development and calibration to advanced image analytics, AI-driven solutions and operational services for clients in Europe and beyond. Through our work, we contribute to societal challenges in domains such as climate resilience, environmental monitoring, water quality, maritime safety, agriculture and security. As Team Manager RESYST/PRISMA, you will lead a multidisciplinary team of researchers, engineers, project managers and technical experts. You combine people leadership, strategic thinking, business development and project oversight to strengthen the team's impact and ensure sustainable growth. You are responsible for creating an environment in which people can grow, collaborate and excel. At the same time, you help shape the future direction of the team by identifying opportunities, building partnerships and translating emerging technological and societal needs into innovative projects and solutions. Key Responsibilities Team Leadership & People Development You lead, coach and inspire a growing team of approximately 10–15 researchers, engineers and project managers. You create an engaging work environment that fosters collaboration, ownership, professional development and knowledge sharing. You are responsible for talent development, performance management and succession planning within the team. By understanding the strengths and ambitions of individual team members, you enable them to grow and contribute to their full potential. You encourage collaboration both within the team and across VITO, connecting experts from different disciplines to achieve shared goals and maximize impact. Team Operations & Resource Management You oversee the operational follow-up of research, innovation and valorisation projects within the team. Together with project managers and department management, you ensure an effective allocation of people and resources across projects, taking into account capacity, competencies, expertise and strategic priorities. You monitor team performance, workload and resource planning and ensure alignment with the department's objectives and long-term ambitions. Strategy & Innovation You contribute to defining and executing the strategic vision and roadmap for RESYST and PRISMA. Together with scientific experts, you identify emerging technological trends, market developments and societal challenges in Earth Observation, remote sensing and AI. You translate these insights into strategic priorities, innovation roadmaps and future opportunities. You support the development of new concepts, services and applications that strengthen VITO's position as an internationally recognized research and innovation partner. Business Development & Project Acquisition Working closely with Business Development, you play a leading role in the acquisition of new projects and strategic partnerships. You identify opportunities, initiate collaborations and help translate client and stakeholder needs into innovative project concepts and proposals. You contribute to the preparation of competitive proposals for programmes such as ESA, Horizon Europe, VLAIO, BELSPO and other national and international funding initiatives. You actively engage in consortium building, proposal development and stakeholder management. You help represent the team's expertise and technologies towards clients, funding bodies and strategic partners. Stakeholder & Network Management You build and maintain a strong network of industrial, governmental, academic and international stakeholders. You represent VITO and the RESYST/PRISMA activities at conferences, workshops and stakeholder events, promoting collaboration and identifying opportunities for future growth. Through your network and strategic insights, you contribute to strengthening VITO's reputation and creating lasting impact for society and industry. You hold a Master's degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, Earth Sciences, Geomatics, or a related discipline. You have proven track record in developing and coordinating successful project proposals within ESA, Horizon Europe, VLAIO, BELSPO, or similar programmes. You have a strong stakeholder management and presentation skills, with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical audiences at national and international levels. You have excellent communication skills in English; proficiency in Dutch is considered a strong asset. You have an entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to identify opportunities and translate them into concrete projects and partnerships. You are self-driven, proactive, and capable of thriving in dynamic and fast-paced environments. Offer We work 'activity-based', our activities bring us to our location. Our headquarter is in Mol.
