Tax Director/Practice Leader
About Us
Collaborative Business Solutions has served businesses and individuals since 2011. We pair Big 4 rigor with a modern, technology-forward approach to accounting and tax. We serve about 400 clients, and we’re growing nationally, partly through strategic acquisitions of other firms. We’re a small, high-performing team where senior people have real authority and a direct impact on how the firm runs.
The Role
We’re looking for an experienced CPA to join our leadership team in a role with responsibilities equal to our shareholders. You’ll own the quality and flow of the firm’s tax work, lead the team, and serve as a trusted advisor to our clients. This is a fully remote position. For the right candidate, there is the potential to become a shareholder.

- Manage staff and workflow to keep engagements moving and deadlines met
- Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, providing responsive service and technical expertise
- Identify client needs and expand relationships by offering add-on and new services
- Help shape firm processes, quality standards, and team development as we grow

- Strong review-level knowledge of Forms 1040, 1041, 1120, 1120-S, and 1065
- Highly detail-oriented, ensuring every return is complete and accurate before it goes out
- Experience with multi-state entities, including apportionment, nexus, and composite filings
- Experience with complex technical matters such as accounting method changes (Form 3115), the R&D tax credit, and foreign filing and reporting requirements (e.g., Forms 5471, 8865, 8938, and FBAR)
- Experience representing clients before the IRS and resolving complex compliance issues, including notices, examinations, and penalty abatement
- Proven ability to lead staff and manage a busy workflow
- Excellent client communication skills and comfort recommending additional services
- Self-motivation and the ability to work effectively in a fully remote environment
