Sustainability Manager Location Head Office Job Purpose The Sustainability Manager will be responsible for driving the implementation of Holcim Egypt’s sustainability roadmap and ensuring that sustainability ambitions are translated into measurable business results. The role will lead sustainability performance management, coordinate the delivery of key sustainability initiatives across the organization, track progress against targets and KPIs, and provide clear insights to senior management to support decision-making and accountability. The Sustainability Manager will also play a key role in external engagement, lobbying and advocacy on sustainability-related topics, representing Holcim Egypt with relevant government authorities, industry associations, customers, partners and other stakeholders. Key Responsibilities Health & Safety: Adhere to and enforce relevant legislation and policies and ensure that highest degree of safety and safe working practices are maintained. Ensure full compliance with Lafarge safety standards and promote safety culture and safe practices among the entire work force. Ensure all BP employees are operating in a safe working environment. Provide monthly reporting and statistics regarding safety performance and incidents. Ensure that all employees and contractors following Health Safety Rules. Conduct VPC and direct other key members in the company to do the same. Identify people with potential to assume broader safety responsibility. Submit the safety figures on monthly basis to the company and discuss areas of improvement. Lead investigations in major safety incidents. Review investigation reports on safety violation incidents and decide on additional actions to be taken. Assume key responsibility for developing H&S improvement plan and relevant action plans. Follow HSIP of the plant and follow the progress. Stopping Unsafe act. Ensure that all employees trained. Attending all safety Meeting Ensure that all employees follow SWI. Achieve Annual Health and safety personal objective. Functional: 1. Sustainability Roadmap & Strategy Implementation Translate Holcim Group and Egypt sustainability strategy into clear local priorities, initiatives, action plans and measurable targets. Lead the implementation and follow-up of the company's sustainability roadmap across relevant functions and business units. Establish clear ownership, milestones, KPIs and timelines for sustainability initiatives. Drive cross-functional alignment and ensure that sustainability commitments are embedded into business plans and operational priorities. Identify implementation gaps, risks and opportunities and proactively develop corrective actions. Ensure that sustainability remains integrated into business decision-making rather than operating as a standalone agenda. 2. Sustainability Performance Management Develop and maintain a comprehensive sustainability performance dashboard covering key environmental, social and governance indicators. Track performance against annual and long-term sustainability targets. Establish robust data collection, validation and reporting processes across functions. Analyze performance trends and identify areas requiring management attention or intervention. Prepare regular sustainability performance reports and management updates for the Sustainability Director and senior leadership. Ensure timely and accurate reporting to relevant internal stakeholders and Group requirements. Support the preparation of sustainability-related disclosures, assessments and reporting requirements. 3. Target Delivery & Accountability Act as a key driver of sustainability target achievement across the organization. Monitor progress against agreed targets and challenge responsible functions when performance is behind plan. Establish structured performance reviews and follow-up mechanisms. Escalate risks and delays early and propose practical solutions. Ensure that sustainability commitments are converted into specific actions with clear accountability. Support the development of annual sustainability objectives and KPIs for relevant functions. 4. Sustainability Projects & Initiatives Coordinate and/or lead strategic sustainability initiatives across the company. Support business functions in developing business cases for sustainability projects. Evaluate the environmental, financial and business impact of sustainability initiatives. Facilitate collaboration between Operations, Commercial, HR, Procurement, Legal, Communications, Innovation, Geocycle and other relevant functions. Identify opportunities to accelerate sustainability performance through innovation, partnerships and new business models. Capture and communicate success stories and best practices internally and externally. 5. Government Relations, Lobbying & Advocacy Support the Sustainability Director in developing and executing the company's sustainability advocacy agenda. Build and maintain effective relationships with relevant government authorities, regulators, industry associations and other external stakeholders. Monitor developments in environmental, climate, waste, circular economy, energy and sustainability legislation and policy. Identify regulatory developments that may create risks or opportunities for Holcim Egypt. Develop evidence-based positions and recommendations on relevant sustainability policies and regulations. Represent the company in selected industry forums, working groups, conferences and stakeholder engagements. Coordinate internal positions and ensure consistency of external messaging. Contribute to advocacy initiatives aimed at enabling the transition toward a more sustainable and circular economy. 6. Stakeholder Engagement & Communication Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders and act as a trusted sustainability partner to the business. Communicate sustainability priorities, progress, challenges and achievements clearly to different audiences. Prepare executive-level presentations, management reports, briefing notes and position papers. Support internal sustainability awareness and engagement programs. Work closely with Corporate Communications to ensure consistent and credible sustainability messaging. Represent Holcim Egypt professionally in external sustainability discussions and events. 7. Sustainability Culture & Capability Building Support the development of a strong sustainability culture across the organization. Increase awareness and understanding of sustainability priorities among employees and leaders. Facilitate sustainability workshops, training sessions and engagement initiatives. Encourage functions to take ownership of sustainability targets and integrate them into their everyday decision-making. Promote continuous improvement and sharing of sustainability best practices. Education, Qualifications & Experience Education: Bachelor's degree in Sustainability, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Engineering, Business, Economics or a related discipline. Postgraduate qualification in sustainability, environmental management, business or a related field is an advantage. Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of Ready-Mix Concrete operations, batching plants, fleet management, and BP maintenance practices. Proven experience managing multiple production sites and operational teams. Strong understanding of preventive and predictive maintenance systems. Financial acumen with experience in budgeting, cost control, CAPEX planning, and business performance analysis. Knowledge of Health, Safety, Environment (HSE), and Quality Management Systems. Experience in project management, plant setup, relocation, refurbishment, and commissioning. Strong understanding of inventory management, spare parts planning, and store operations. Knowledge of transportation and fleet optimization principles. Ability to analyze operational KPIs and drive continuous improvement initiatives. Familiarity with sustainability, environmental compliance, and operational excellence programs. Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP preferred) and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel. Strong data analysis, reporting, and presentation skills. Excellent stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration capabilities. Experience: Typically, 8–12+ years of relevant professional experience, with significant experience in sustainability, ESG, environmental management, strategy, consulting, public affairs or a related field. Experience in a large multinational or complex organization is preferred. Proven experience in managing cross-functional projects and driving initiatives through to implementation. Experience working with government authorities, regulators, industry associations or external stakeholders is highly desirable. Experience in sustainability reporting, performance management and ESG frameworks is preferred.
