Structural Engineer – Civil Design

Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced and technically proficient Structural Design Engineer to join our engineering consultancy company in Sharjah, UAE.

As a Structural Engineer, you will be responsible for the structural analysis, design and preparation of engineering drawings for various residential, commercial and industrial construction projects. You will ensure that all structural designs comply with applicable engineering standards, UAE building codes, municipal regulations and project specifications.

You will work closely with architects, MEP engineers, project managers and relevant authorities to develop safe, economical and efficient structural designs while ensuring timely project delivery and regulatory approvals.

ROLES & OBJECTIVES:

• Perform structural analysis and design of reinforced concrete and steel structures for residential, commercial and industrial buildings.
• Prepare, review and verify structural calculations, design reports, drawings and technical specifications.
• Develop structural designs for foundations, columns, beams, slabs, retaining walls and other structural elements.
• Ensure compliance with UAE building codes, international design standards (ACI, BS, Eurocodes) and relevant municipality requirements.
• Prepare and coordinate structural drawings using AutoCAD and other structural design software.
• Perform structural modelling, load calculations and analysis using ETABS, SAFE, SAP2000 and other relevant engineering software.
• Coordinate closely with architectural and MEP departments to ensure structural designs are compatible with overall project requirements.
• Prepare and submit structural drawings, calculations and supporting documents for municipality approvals.
• Review structural shop drawings, material submittals and technical documentation submitted by contractors.
• Provide technical support to site engineers and construction teams to resolve structural design-related issues.
• Identify potential design conflicts and recommend safe, practical and cost-effective engineering solutions.
• Manage multiple design projects simultaneously while maintaining accuracy, quality and adherence to deadlines.

REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university.
• Membership in the UAE Society of Engineers.
• Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in structural design , preferably within an engineering consultancy in the UAE.
• Municipality Approved Card as a Civil/Structural Engineer (Preferred).
• Strong knowledge of UAE building regulations, municipality requirements and applicable structural design codes.
• Demonstrated proficiency in structural analysis and design of reinforced concrete and steel structures.
• Advanced proficiency in ETABS, SAFE, SAP2000 and AutoCAD.
• Experience in designing foundations, multistorey buildings and various structural systems.
• Familiarity with structural design requirements and submission procedures for Sharjah Municipality and other UAE authorities.
• Ability to independently prepare structural calculations, design reports and municipality submission drawings.
• Strong understanding of construction materials, structural behavior and engineering principles.
• Excellent analytical, mathematical and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet strict design and submission deadlines.
• Strong communication, coordination and organizational skills.
• Attention to detail with a commitment to safe, efficient and economical structural solutions.
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary engineering consultancy environment.

• Sharjah: Reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (Required).

Experience:

• Structural Design Engineering: 3 years (Required).
• UAE Engineering Consultancy Experience: 3 years (Preferred).

License/Certification:

• UAE Society of Engineers Membership (Required).
• Municipality Approval as Civil/Structural Engineer (Preferred).

Work Location: In person – Sharjah, UAE.

Pay: AED3,500.00 - AED5,500.00 per month
