STRUCTURAL STEEL ERECTORPosition Job Title: Structural Steel Erector Department: Construction / Structural Industry: Oil & Gas / Petrochemical / Infrastructure Location: UAE – Project Site Reports To: Structural Steel Foreman / Supervisor / Construction Engineer 1. JOB PURPOSE The Structural Steel Erector is responsible for safely and efficiently carrying out structural steel erection, installation, alignment, bolting, and associated construction activities in accordance with approved drawings, project specifications, method statements, ITPs, and UAE/Oil & Gas project requirements. The position requires the ability to work safely at height and handle structural steel members using cranes, manlifts, chain blocks, come-alongs, lifting equipment, and other approved erection tools. 2. KEY RESPONSIBILITIESA. Structural Steel Erection Erect structural steel columns, beams, rafters, bracings, platforms, ladders, stairways, handrails and other structural members. Install structural steel for pipe racks, equipment racks, PEB structures, platforms and miscellaneous steel . Position and secure steel members according to approved structural drawings. Assist the lifting team during crane operations and guide structural members into position. Carry out temporary fixing and securing of structural members before final bolting. Ensure correct orientation and positioning of structural steel components. B. Alignment & Installation Check verticality, level and alignment of structural members. Use spirit levels, measuring tapes, plumb lines and other approved tools for erection activities. Assist supervisors and surveyors during structural alignment and correction. Ensure proper fit-up of structural members before final tightening. Identify dimensional or installation discrepancies and report them to the Foreman/Supervisor. C. Bolting & Connections Carry out structural steel bolting and connection works. Install bolts, nuts and washers correctly as per approved drawings. Carry out preliminary and final tightening using approved tools. Carry out torqueing during bolt tightening activities. Ensure bolts are correctly installed and connections are properly secured. Maintain good housekeeping around completed structural connections. D. Lifting & Rigging Support Assist qualified riggers and lifting supervisors during lifting operations. Connect and disconnect approved lifting accessories under the direction of competent personnel. Use tag lines to control suspended loads where required. Ensure structural members are properly secured before lifting. Follow approved lifting plans and site lifting procedures. Never stand under suspended loads or enter unauthorized lifting zones. E. Work at Height Perform erection activities from scaffolds, elevated platforms, MEWPs/manlifts and other approved access systems. Properly use full-body harnesses and fall-protection equipment. Maintain 100% fall protection where required by project/site procedures. Follow approved working-at-height procedures. Ensure tools and materials are properly secured when working at elevation. 3. TOOLS & EQUIPMENT The Structural Steel Erector shall be competent in the safe use of applicable tools and equipment, including: Hand tools and structural steel erection tools Spanners and impact wrenches Torque/bolting tools Chain blocks and lever hoists Come-alongs Measuring tapes and spirit levels Plumb lines Tag lines MEWPs / manlifts, where authorized and trained Other approved erection equipment 4. SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES Strictly comply with company HSE policies and project-specific safety requirements. Attend toolbox talks, pre-task briefings and safety meetings. Follow approved Method Statements, Risk Assessments and Permit-to-Work requirements. Use the required PPE at all times. Maintain safe working distances from cranes and suspended loads. Report unsafe conditions, incidents, near misses and defective equipment immediately. Stop work and inform the Supervisor when an unsafe condition exists. Maintain good housekeeping within the work area. Follow ADNOC/client HSE requirements applicable to the project. 5. QUALITY RESPONSIBILITIES Perform erection work according to approved IFC/shop drawings and project specifications. Ensure structural members are installed correctly before final fixing. Prevent damage to galvanized, painted, coated or finished steel surfaces. Report damaged or defective materials to the Supervisor. Ensure correct bolt installation and connection arrangements. Cooperate with QA/QC personnel during inspection activities. Rectify identified installation defects as instructed by the Supervisor. 6. COORDINATION The Structural Steel Erector shall coordinate with: Structural Steel Foreman Lifting Supervisor Riggers Crane Operators MEWP/Manlift Operators Steel Fitters Welders QA/QC Inspectors HSE Officers Surveyors Construction Engineers 7. QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE Minimum Requirements: ITI / vocational training in structural steel, fabrication, erection or equivalent experience preferred. Minimum 3–5 years of relevant structural steel erection experience in Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Industrial or Infrastructure projects. Experience in erection of pipe racks, equipment structures, PEB, platforms and miscellaneous steel preferred. Previous experience on ADNOC or other major Oil & Gas projects is an advantage. Ability to read and understand basic structural drawings is preferred. Ability to work at height and in outdoor/project-site conditions. 8. CERTIFICATIONS / COMPETENCY The candidate should possess, where required by the project: Valid site safety/HSE induction Working-at-height training Rigging & lifting awareness MEWP/Manlift certification where operating MEWP Relevant client/project competency certification Medical fitness as required by UAE/project regulations 9. SKILLS & COMPETENCIES Strong practical knowledge of structural steel erection. Ability to work safely at height. Good understanding of lifting and erection procedures. Ability to follow drawings and instructions. Good teamwork and communication skills. Physically fit for construction-site activities. Ability to work under supervision and meet project schedules. Strong commitment to safety and quality. Willingness to work overtime, shifts and extended hours when required by the project. 10. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS The position may require: Working at significant heights. Climbing ladders and access structures. Working in confined or restricted areas. Handling and positioning steel components and erection tools. Standing and walking for extended periods. Working outdoors under varying weather conditions. Wearing full PPE and fall-protection equipment. 11. PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS The Structural Steel Erector is expected to: Complete assigned erection activities safely and efficiently. Maintain required productivity and quality standards. Follow approved drawings and construction procedures. Maintain zero tolerance for unsafe acts and conditions. Minimize damage to materials and completed works. Maintain good housekeeping. Support the Foreman/Supervisor in achieving daily and weekly project targets. 12. GENERAL The employee shall perform all duties assigned by the Management, Construction Manager, Engineer, Supervisor or Foreman that are reasonably related to the position and project requirements. The employee must comply with all applicable company policies, project procedures, client requirements, HSE regulations and UAE laws. Pay: AED1,400.00 - AED2,200.00 per month Work Location: In person
