We are looking for an experienced, commercially minded Store Manager to join our South London operation. This is not simply about opening the doors and running the shop each day. We are looking for someone who wants to grow a business. You will have ownership of your store's performance, your team and the customer experience. We want a manager who knows their customers, understands their local market and is prepared to get out from behind the counter to win new business as well as develop the customers we already have. The role You will be responsible for the day-to-day performance of the store, including: - Leading, motivating and developing your team. - Driving sales, margin and profitable growth - Building strong relationships with trade and retail customers - Winning new business and developing existing accounts - Re-engaging, lapsed customers and identifying local sales opportunities. - Delivering excellent customer service and maintaining strong product knowledge - Ensuring the store is well merchandised, fully operational and presented to a high standard. - Managing stock, availability and operational controls - Taking ownership of store targets and performance - Maintaining high standards of health & safety and company compliance - Working closely with our commercial and senior management teams to identify opportunities for growth This is a hands-on management role . Our Store Managers lead from the front and are an important part of the day-to-day customer experience. Who we're looking for. We are looking for someone with proven management experience within retail, merchanting or a similar commercially focused environment. You may already be a Store Manager or Branch Manager , or an experienced Deputy or Assistant Manager who can demonstrate that you are ready to take full responsibility for a store. Experience within the paint and decorating industry, builders' merchants, trade retail or a similar environment would be a strong advantage. You should be: - An experienced and confident people manager - Commercially aware and comfortable working to sales and margin targets - Able to demonstrate success in growing sales or generating new business. - Proactive about developing customers and identifying opportunities. - Excellent at building long-term customer relationships - Able to motivate a team and set clear standards. - Organised, accountable and comfortable taking full ownership of store performance. - Practical and prepared to get involved in all aspects of running the store. - Someone who notices opportunities and acts on them rather than waiting to be asked.
