Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Immigration Staff Attorney with strong litigation skills to join our growing legal team. The attorney will report directly to the Managing Partner and play an important role in handling complex immigration litigation, removal defense, and federal court matters. Our ideal candidate is a confident, tenacious, resourceful, persuasive, detail-oriented, and highly motivated litigator who thrives in the courtroom, enjoys tackling difficult legal issues, and refuses to back down simply because a case is challenging. We want an attorney who is passionate about the art of litigation, enjoys developing creative legal arguments, and takes pride in preparing persuasive motions and briefs. Someone who understands that successful litigation requires more than simply knowing the law. It requires dedication, preparation, critical thinking, adaptability, and the determination to explore every available legal avenue for a client. Immigration law experience is preferred but NOT required. We are specifically looking for an attorney with strong litigation experience in any area of law who is eager to learn immigration law and develop into an exceptional immigration litigator. We are willing to teach immigration law to the right attorney, but we are looking for someone who already possesses the drive, passion, confidence, and dedication that make a great litigator. Key Responsibilities - Represent clients before Immigration Courts in Master Calendar Hearings and Individual Hearings. - Prepare clients and witnesses for hearings, including reviewing testimony, evidence, and potential legal issues. - Draft compelling legal pleadings, persuasive motions, briefs, and memoranda of law. - Prepare and file federal habeas corpus petitions and handle other complex federal litigation matters. - Draft Petitions for Review, Motions to Reopen, Motions to Reconsider, and appeals before the Board of Immigration Appeals. - Prepare and file pleadings with Immigration Courts, the Board of Immigration Appeals, USCIS, and Federal Courts while strictly following all applicable rules and deadlines. - Conduct thorough legal research, analyze complex legal issues, and develop creative and effective litigation strategies. - Identify weaknesses in opposing arguments and develop persuasive legal responses. - Independently manage a high-volume caseload while maintaining exceptional attention to detail and accuracy. - Maintain organized case files, accurate case notes, and proper case management. - Communicate professionally and effectively with clients, government agencies, court personnel, and opposing counsel. - Work closely with paralegals and support staff to ensure cases are thoroughly prepared and timely filed. - Demonstrate initiative, accountability, and a willingness to go above and beyond when advocating for clients. Qualifications - Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school. - Active license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction (required). - Strong litigation experience in any area of law is highly preferred. - Immigration law experience is preferred but NOT required . - A genuine passion for litigation, courtroom advocacy, and protecting clients' rights. - Excellent legal writing skills with the ability to develop clear, persuasive, and well-supported legal arguments. - Strong legal research, analytical reasoning, and problem-solving abilities. - Confidence and professionalism when appearing before judges and advocating in court. - Ability to think quickly, respond effectively under pressure, and adapt to unexpected developments. - Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to handle a demanding caseload and strict deadlines. - A willingness to learn immigration law, accept constructive feedback, and continuously improve litigation skills. - Experience preparing federal court pleadings, including habeas petitions, is a plus but not required. - Ability to work independently while remaining a supportive and collaborative member of the legal team.
