JOB SUMMARY The Site Civil Engineer will be the overall person-in-charge of Alchedy Construction Inc.'s assigned civil works for the Elevator and Escalator areas at the designated MRT-7 station. The company's scope covers the preparation and completion of the required civil works and designated areas where the elevators and escalators will be installed. This position does not involve the mechanical or electrical installation, testing, or commissioning of the elevator and escalator equipment. The Site Civil Engineer will be responsible for the daily planning, supervision, coordination, monitoring, documentation, material management, cost monitoring, and execution of the assigned civil works. The Site Engineer will coordinate closely with the Project Manager, Senior Engineers, Planner, Document Controller, Main Office/Admin Team, site workers, suppliers/subcontractors, SMC Infrastructure personnel, and other contractors involved in the project. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES1. Overall Site Supervision - Serve as the overall person-in-charge of the assigned civil works for the Elevator and Escalator areas at the station. - Supervise and monitor all daily construction activities within the assigned scope. - Ensure that works are executed according to the latest approved drawings, plans, specifications, approved methodology, and project requirements. - Ensure that the elevator pits, escalator areas, openings, concrete works, and other required civil works are properly prepared according to the required dimensions, elevations, and locations. - Check actual site conditions before commencement of work. - Immediately identify and report discrepancies between drawings and actual site conditions. - Ensure that completed areas are ready for inspection and eventual turnover to the concerned elevator/escalator contractor or client. 2. Daily Planning & Work Scheduling - Prepare the daily work plan and coordinate activities with the Project Manager. - Plan activities ahead based on the approved project schedule and site priorities. - Determine required manpower, materials, tools, equipment, and other resources for upcoming activities. - Coordinate daily and upcoming activities with the Project Manager, Main Office, and concerned client representatives. - Monitor actual progress against the approved construction schedule. - Immediately report delays, constraints, or activities that may affect the project schedule. - Assist in developing recovery or catch-up plans when required. 3. Civil Works & Technical Monitoring - Review and understand the latest approved construction drawings and specifications before execution. - Conduct and verify site measurements, layouts, dimensions, and elevations. - Monitor civil works including, as applicable: - Elevator pit preparation and construction - Escalator civil works and designated installation areas - Concrete works - Formworks - Reinforcement works - Masonry and related civil works - Openings and penetrations - Equipment bases, supports, and required civil provisions - Waterproofing of elevator pits where applicable - Embedded items and other required provisions - Repair, rectification, and finishing works - Coordinate required dimensions, elevations, openings, and interfaces with the elevator/escalator contractor and other concerned trades. - Ensure that civil works are completed correctly before turnover for equipment installation. 4. Workforce Management - Conduct or facilitate the required daily Toolbox Meeting before work activities begin. - Assign daily tasks and work areas to site workers. - Clearly communicate daily targets and expected accomplishments. - Monitor workers' attendance, productivity, workmanship, and compliance with site requirements. - Ensure proper distribution and utilization of manpower. - Minimize unnecessary idle time, overtime, and rework. - Coordinate additional or reduced manpower requirements with the Project Manager and Main Office. 5. Coordination Maintain regular coordination with: - Project Manager - Senior Engineers - Planner - Document Controller - Main Office/Admin Staff - Site Workers and Foremen - Suppliers and Subcontractors - SMC Infrastructure Engineers and authorized personnel - Elevator and Escalator Contractor/Installer - Other contractors and trades whose activities may affect the assigned scope The Site Engineer must ensure that site concerns requiring management or client decisions are communicated immediately and properly documented. 6. Daily Reports & Documentation - Prepare and submit accurate Daily Activity/Accomplishment Reports . - Document manpower deployment, activities performed, quantities accomplished, materials used, deliveries received, and site conditions. - Submit clear and properly organized progress photos. - Report site issues, delays, instructions, and constraints. - Provide the Project Manager and Main Office with updates on completed, ongoing, and upcoming activities. - Coordinate documentation requirements with the Document Controller. - Maintain proper records of inspections, site instructions, material deliveries, and other relevant project documents. 7. Materials Planning, Estimation & Monitoring - Prepare quantity take-offs and estimates for materials required for upcoming works. - Submit material requirements sufficiently in advance to prevent work interruptions. - Monitor available materials and site inventory. - Monitor actual material consumption against estimated quantities. - Prevent excessive material usage, wastage, loss, and unnecessary purchases. - Coordinate material requirements with the Project Manager and Main Office. 8. Receiving & Inspection of Materials - Receive and inspect materials delivered to the project site. - Verify delivered quantities against approved requests, Purchase Orders, and Delivery Receipts when applicable. - Check the condition and specifications of delivered materials. - Report damaged, incorrect, incomplete, or excess deliveries immediately. - Ensure that materials are properly stored, protected, and accounted for at the site. - Maintain accurate records of materials received, issued, and consumed. 9. Cost Control - Assist the Project Manager and Main Office in monitoring project costs related to the assigned scope. - Monitor manpower utilization, material consumption, equipment usage, and other site expenses. - Compare actual material usage with estimated/project quantities. - Minimize material wastage, unnecessary overtime, rework, and avoidable expenses. - Immediately report activities that may result in additional costs. - Identify possible variation/additional works and report them to the Project Manager before proceeding , unless immediate action is required for safety. - Do not proceed with unauthorized additional works without proper instruction or approval. 10. Quality Control & Inspection - Ensure that all civil works comply with the latest approved drawings, specifications, and project quality requirements. - Inspect works before requesting inspection from the client or concerned representative. - Coordinate required inspections with the Project Manager, QA/QC personnel, SMC Infrastructure, and other concerned parties. - Monitor and ensure timely completion of punch list and rectification works. - Prevent unnecessary rework by checking dimensions, elevations, locations, and specifications before execution. 11. Safety & Site Compliance - Ensure that all workers comply with required PPE and project safety regulations. - Participate in and conduct toolbox meetings as required. - Coordinate with the project's Safety Officer regarding work activities and safety requirements. - Immediately report unsafe conditions, incidents, accidents, or violations. - Ensure that work areas are maintained in a safe, organized, and clean condition. - Comply with SMC Infrastructure's site rules, security procedures, work permits, and other project requirements. QUALIFICATIONS - Graduate of Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. - Licensed Civil Engineer is an advantage. - Preferably with experience in site supervision and civil/structural construction works. - Experience in infrastructure, railway, transportation, commercial, or large-scale construction projects is an advantage. - Experience involving elevator pits, escalator areas, equipment foundations, or similar civil works is an advantage but not mandatory. - Must be able to read and interpret construction drawings, plans, details, and specifications. - Knowledgeable in quantity take-off, material estimation, and basic cost monitoring. - Familiar with concrete, reinforcement, formwork, masonry, waterproofing, and other general civil works. - Capable of checking actual site dimensions, elevations, and locations against approved drawings. - Knowledgeable in construction scheduling, progress monitoring, and daily reporting. - Proficient in Microsoft Office; knowledge of AutoCAD and construction scheduling software is an advantage. - Good communication, leadership, coordination, and problem-solving skills. - Able to manage workers and coordinate effectively with different contractors, engineers, and client representatives. - Must be organized, responsible, proactive, and capable of working with minimal supervision. - Must be willing to be assigned full-time at the MRT-7 Project in Quezon City . KEY EXPECTATIONS OF THE POSITION The Site Civil Engineer is expected to take ownership and accountability for the assigned scope of work . The Engineer must not simply wait for daily instructions but should plan ahead , identify upcoming requirements, anticipate potential problems, and coordinate them with the Project Manager and Main Office before they affect the project. The Site Engineer is expected to know: - What work is being performed today; - What needs to be accomplished next; - Whether sufficient manpower is available; - What materials are currently available; - What materials need to be ordered in advance; - Whether the work is on schedule; - What activities are causing or may cause delays; - What site or drawing issues require clarification; - What inspections and approvals are required; and - What coordination is required from the client, other contractors, or Main Office. The overall objective of the position is to ensure that Alchedy Construction Inc.'s assigned civil works for the Elevator and Escalator areas are completed safely, correctly, efficiently, within the approved budget and schedule, and ready for turnover to the next contractor/trade.
