Shop Floor Manager
Job Summary We are seeking an experienced Shop Floor Manager to lead and control day-to-day manufacturing operations for aerospace composite structures. The role will be responsible for driving production performance, manpower utilization, quality, safety, process compliance, and on-time delivery while ensuring strict adherence to aerospace manufacturing standards. Key Responsibilities Lead and manage complete shop-floor operations covering composite lay-up, kitting, vacuum bagging, autoclave/oven curing, trimming, drilling, bonding, assembly, and finishing . Plan and allocate manpower, machines, tools, materials, and work orders to achieve daily and monthly production targets. Ensure production is executed strictly as per approved drawings, work instructions, process specifications, travelers, and aerospace quality requirements . Monitor production output, takt time, OEE, rejection, rework, downtime, and delivery performance; implement corrective actions for deviations. Lead and develop production supervisors, technicians, operators, and shop-floor teams, ensuring optimum workforce productivity. Coordinate closely with Planning, Quality, Engineering, Supply Chain, Stores, and Maintenance to resolve production constraints and ensure uninterrupted operations. Ensure proper handling, traceability, storage, and shelf-life control of composite materials, resins, prepregs, adhesives, and consumables . Drive 5S, Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, waste reduction, process optimization, and continuous improvement initiatives. Ensure strict compliance with HSE, FOD prevention, ESD/environmental controls where applicable, and aerospace production discipline . Investigate production failures, process deviations, NCRs, and recurring defects and coordinate effective root-cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA) . Maintain accurate production records, shift reports, traceability documentation, and KPI dashboards. Ensure equipment, tooling, molds, jigs, fixtures, and production areas are available and maintained for smooth operations. Conduct daily production meetings and provide management with clear updates on capacity, risks, bottlenecks, manpower, quality, and delivery status . Requirements Bachelor’s/Diploma in Aerospace, Mechanical, Manufacturing, Composite Engineering , or a related discipline. 7+ years of experience in aerospace or advanced composite manufacturing, with proven experience managing a production/shop-floor team. Strong hands-on knowledge of composite manufacturing processes and aerospace production environments . Experience with Autoclave/Oven curing, prepreg, wet lay-up, vacuum infusion, bonding, trimming, drilling, and composite assembly . Strong understanding of AS9100, quality systems, production traceability, FOD control, and aerospace manufacturing practices . Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage multi-shift teams and high-volume production requirements . Strong analytical, problem-solving, decision-making, and communication skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven aerospace manufacturing environment .
