Position Summary We are looking for an experienced, motivated, and customer-focused Service Writer / Service Advisor to join our automotive repair and tire shop. The Service Writer is the key connection between our customers and technicians, responsible for providing excellent customer service while accurately identifying customer needs, preparing repair orders, recommending services, and keeping customers informed throughout the repair process. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of automotive repair and tires, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced shop environment. Responsibilities Greet customers professionally and provide a friendly, positive experience. Listen to customer concerns and accurately document vehicle symptoms and service requests. Prepare detailed repair orders and estimates. Recommend necessary repairs, maintenance services, and tire replacements based on technician findings. Explain repairs, services, pricing, and recommendations clearly to customers. Obtain customer authorization before repairs are performed. Communicate with technicians regarding customer concerns and requested services. Review technician inspections and translate technical information into easy-to-understand recommendations. Keep customers updated on repair progress, additional repairs, and completion times. Coordinate parts, tires, technician workflow, and customer approvals when necessary. Assist with scheduling appointments and managing the daily service workload. Maintain accurate customer and vehicle information. Review completed repairs with customers and explain work performed. Prepare accurate invoices and collect payment. Promote preventive maintenance and additional services when appropriate. Help maintain a clean, organized, professional service counter and shop environment. Ensure customer satisfaction and address concerns professionally. Follow all company safety, warranty, and service procedures. Qualifications Previous experience as an Automotive Service Advisor, Service Writer, Shop Manager, or Technician preferred. Strong knowledge of automotive repair and maintenance. Tire industry experience is a plus. Ability to understand and explain automotive terminology. Excellent customer service and communication skills. Strong organizational and time-management abilities. Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment. Ability to accurately create estimates and repair orders. Mitchell 1 shop software experience is a plus. Basic computer skills and ability to learn shop management software. Strong attention to detail. Professional appearance and positive attitude.
