# Service Manager **Tate Security Technology Limited** · Wigan WN3 6PX · `On-site` 🕒 **Статус:** *Опубликовано: 6 дней назад* · *Источник: Indeed* --- ### About the Role Tate Security is looking for an organised, proactive Service Manager to lead our small service team and manage the day-to-day delivery of maintenance, reactive repairs and remedial works. We maintain security systems for customers across the custodial, critical infrastructure and commercial sectors. Our work includes CCTV, access control, intercoms, electric locking, automated gates and doors, and roller shutters. You will manage service engineers and administration staff, coordinate workloads and ensure customers receive a reliable, responsive service. Working closely with the directors, you will take ownership of service delivery, customer communication and the performance of the department. This is a practical management role suited to someone who enjoys working with a small team, solving problems and seeing jobs through to completion. Key responsibilities - Manage and support the service team, setting clear priorities and expectations. - Plan engineers’ workloads, planned maintenance visits, reactive callouts and remedial works. - Allocate jobs according to engineers’ competence, location, site access requirements and availability. - Monitor open jobs and ensure customers receive progress updates at least every 72 hours while work remains outstanding. - Take ownership of customer queries, complaints and service escalations. - Coordinate site access, security clearance requirements, permits and customer appointments. - Ensure parts, equipment and subcontractors are arranged in time for scheduled work. - Prepare and follow up remedial quotations, working within agreed pricing and approval limits. - Monitor labour, travel, materials and subcontractor costs to support profitable service delivery. - Review engineers’ reports, asset records, timesheets and job documentation for accuracy and completeness. - Ensure completed work is ready for invoicing promptly, with the necessary records and customer approvals. - Coordinate suitable risk assessments, method statements and permits, escalating technical or compliance concerns to the appropriate person. - Ensure work is assigned to suitably trained and competent engineers. - Track maintenance completion, response times, outstanding repairs and contractual service commitments. - Report department performance, resource requirements and recurring issues to the directors. - Identify opportunities to improve processes, reduce repeat visits and develop customer relationships. Essential skills and experience - Experience managing or supervising a service team within security systems, fire and security, building services or a related engineering sector. - Strong organisation and scheduling skills, with the ability to manage changing priorities. - Confident communication with customers, engineers, suppliers and senior management. - Experience coordinating planned maintenance and reactive repairs. - Ability to manage people fairly, address performance issues and maintain clear expectations. - Commercial awareness, including an understanding of quotations, job costs and profitability. - Good attention to detail when reviewing reports, records and service documentation. - Confidence using service management software, Microsoft Outlook and Excel. - A practical approach to problem-solving and a willingness to take ownership of outstanding issues. - An understanding of health and safety responsibilities and the importance of engineer competence. Desirable skills and experience - Technical knowledge of CCTV, access control, intercoms, electric locking or related security systems. - Experience with roller shutters, automated gates or powered doors. - Experience working within prisons, secure establishments or critical infrastructure sites. - Familiarity with service contracts, asset registers and contractual performance targets. - Experience using CRM packages to manage service jobs, customer communications and maintenance records. - Relevant technical, management or industry qualifications. Applicants do not need to be specialists in every system we maintain, but must be able to recognise when technical support is required and coordinate the right resources.
