Position Scope:
As a Service Engineer for the FläktGroup team, you will serve as the senior technical resource for controls-related commissioning, warranty, and service work across our commercial, industrial, and mission-critical installations. Working from a home office and traveling 20–40% of the time, you will resolve complex controls and automation issues on energy recovery, CDU, fan wall, controls, and air handling systems, remotely wherever possible, and on site when the situation requires it. This role builds our internal capability to diagnose and solve controls problems directly, reducing reliance on third-party contractors, shortening resolution times, and improving first-time fix rates as our data center and industrial cooling business continues to grow. You will provide advice, guidance, and technical expertise to end users, commissioning and service teams, and sales representatives.
Position Key Attributes:
- Safety: Proves a strong commitment to safety by working to support an interdependent safety culture that spans throughout the organization.
- Ambition: Sets high standards and pursues ambitious goals, continually raising the bar for project execution, personal growth, and performance.
- Entrepreneurship: Brings an entrepreneurial mindset to the role, proactively identifying opportunities, taking initiative, and finding new ways to move projects forward.
- Accountability: Takes ownership of project outcomes and customer needs, holding self and others accountable for delivering reliable, high-quality results.
- Teamwork: Collaborates effectively across teams, communicating clearly and treating customers and colleagues with respect to ensure seamless execution.
- Continuous Improvement: Embraces a continuous improvement mindset, actively seeking ways to enhance project delivery and operational performance.
- Integrity: Acts with integrity and a long-term, service-first mindset—doing the right thing, even when difficult, to build trust and strengthen the organization for the future.
Position Responsibilities:
- Serve as the lead technical resource for controls, automation, and sequence of operation issues on FläktGroup energy recovery, fan wall, and air handling equipment.
- Diagnose and resolve complex controls faults remotely through data review, remote access, and collaboration with field technicians before deploying to site.
- Travel 20–40% of the time to perform on-site controls startup, commissioning support, system optimization, and escalated troubleshooting.
- Develop, review, and validate control sequences, programming, and integration points with building automation systems and customer networks.
- Reduce dependency on third-party controls contractors by bringing diagnostic and resolution capability in-house, lowering both external spend and customer downtime.
- Improve first-time fix rates by equipping technicians with accurate technical direction, documentation, and parts requirements ahead of a site visit.
- Build synergies with engineering, product management, and manufacturing teams to drive root cause analysis and permanent corrective action on fielded systems.
- Develop technical documentation, troubleshooting guides, and training content that raise the controls capability of the broader service organization.
- Support growth in the data center and industrial cooling segments by ensuring controls performance meets customer specification and contract requirements.
- Provide superior customer service to both internal and external customers while maintaining a professional appearance and demeanor.
- Advise leadership regarding customer satisfaction, product performance, and suggestions for product improvements.

- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical field with four years of controls or field service experience, or eight years of equivalent related experience in HVAC controls, building automation, or mission-critical environments.
- Demonstrated expertise troubleshooting and commissioning automatic controls, building automation systems, and other building subsystems in commercial or critical infrastructure environments.
- Working knowledge of common building automation protocols and integration methods such as BACnet, Modbus, and LonWorks.
- Experience with control panels, variable frequency drives, sensors, instrumentation, and electrical schematics, including the ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans, wiring diagrams, and equipment manuals.
- Demonstrated ability to perform thorough root cause analysis and see issues through to resolution.

Preferred:
- Experience commissioning or servicing energy recovery, fan wall, or custom air handling equipment.
- Experience supporting data centers, clean rooms, or other mission-critical environments.
- Controls programming experience on PLC, DDC, or equivalent platforms, along with familiarity with IP networking fundamentals.
