The role will be responsible for developing test strategies, driving test planning and execution, leading automation initiatives, managing defects and release readiness, and ensuring consistent quality standards across the software development lifecycle. The ideal candidate has strong technical testing experience, understands both frontend and backend systems, and can effectively collaborate with Engineering, Product, DevOps, and QA teams to identify risks early and deliver reliable, high-quality solutions. Key Responsibilities Test Strategy, Planning & Quality Governance Define and maintain the overall test strategy, test coverage approach, and quality gates for products and releases. Lead test planning for sprints and releases, including test scope, effort estimates, environments, entry and exit criteria, dependencies, and risks . Establish and enforce consistent QA standards covering Definition of Ready (DoR), Definition of Done (DoD), test documentation, traceability, test evidence, and sign-offs . Identify testing risks and develop appropriate mitigation strategies based on business and technical priorities. Test Design & Execution Leadership Lead the creation, review, and execution of test scenarios and test cases covering functional, regression, integration, system, and UAT support testing . Review requirements and user stories to ensure they are clear, complete, and testable. Identify requirement gaps, ambiguities, and potential quality risks early in the development lifecycle. Drive risk-based testing and prioritization based on business criticality, including BSS/OSS processes, billing, provisioning, order management, and other critical workflows. Ensure appropriate test coverage across end-to-end business and technical processes. Defect Management, Triage & Release Readiness Own defect lifecycle governance, including defect triage, severity and priority calibration, root-cause analysis, tracking, and closure . Collaborate with Engineering and Product teams to investigate issues, determine impact, and ensure timely resolution. Monitor recurring defect and root-cause trends and recommend preventive actions. Support release readiness assessments and provide quality recommendations based on test results, defect status, and identified risks. Prepare clear and timely QA reports covering test progress, execution status, pass/fail rates, defect trends, coverage, and release risk assessments . Automation Leadership & Test Pipeline Enablement Define and drive the test automation strategy, including automation scope, framework selection, coverage targets, coding standards, and reliability expectations . Develop, maintain, and enhance automated test suites for frontend and backend systems . Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines in collaboration with DevOps and Engineering teams. Improve automated test reliability by reducing flaky tests, stabilizing test environments, and optimizing test execution time. Identify opportunities to increase automation coverage while maintaining meaningful and maintainable test suites. Establish standards for automation maintainability, reporting, execution, and failure analysis. Collaboration & Cross-Functional Execution Work closely with DevOps and Engineering teams to ensure test environments, deployments, test data, and infrastructure are ready for testing. Collaborate with Product and Business teams on acceptance criteria, UAT preparation, and business scenario validation. Support production verification activities and ensure appropriate monitoring and validation plans are in place following releases. Promote a shift-left testing approach by participating early in requirements, solution design, and development discussions. Act as a QA advocate across cross-functional teams and help embed quality throughout the software development lifecycle. Team Leadership, Coaching & Capability Building Mentor QA engineers through code and test reviews, pairing sessions, technical coaching, and structured feedback . Support onboarding of new QA team members and help establish clear roles, responsibilities, and ownership. Provide guidance on testing techniques, automation practices, defect management, and QA standards. Drive continuous improvement initiatives covering QA processes, tools, templates, test data management, regression strategies, and delivery practices . Help improve the team's overall testing efficiency, quality, and delivery cadence. Continuous Learning & QA Community Contribution Participate in daily and weekly project cadences and effectively communicate QA status, risks, issues, and dependencies . Continuously develop technical and testing expertise through training, research, and hands-on learning. Encourage knowledge sharing through brown-bag sessions, technical discussions, playbooks, and mentoring activities . Share QA best practices, testing techniques, automation patterns, and lessons learned with the wider engineering community. Stay updated on emerging testing tools, automation frameworks, quality engineering practices, and industry standards. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field . Proven experience as a Senior Test Engineer, Senior QA Engineer, Automation Test Engineer, or similar role . Strong hands-on experience in both manual and automated software testing . Experience developing and maintaining automated test frameworks and test suites. Strong understanding of functional, regression, integration, system, API/backend, and end-to-end testing . Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated test integration . Strong knowledge of test planning, test case design, defect management, test reporting, and quality governance. Experience working with Agile/Scrum development teams. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to assess technical and business risks. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. Demonstrated ability to mentor junior and mid-level QA engineers and provide technical guidance. Preferred Qualifications Experience testing BSS/OSS, billing, provisioning, order management, CRM, or other enterprise platforms . Experience with API testing and backend validation. Experience with test automation frameworks and tools such as Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, Appium, REST Assured, or similar technologies . Experience working with Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or similar CI/CD platforms . Knowledge of SQL and database validation. Experience with test management and defect tracking tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, TestRail, Zephyr, or similar platforms . Experience with performance, security, or reliability testing is an advantage. Experience leading QA activities across large-scale enterprise applications or multiple concurrent releases.
