Desert Man Transporting & Contracting LLC (DMTC) is an established contracting and transportation company in Abu Dhabi, UAE, involved in civil infrastructure, roadworks, pipeline works, earthworks, excavation, transportation, heavy equipment, and related construction activities.

We are seeking an experienced and technically strong Senior Technical Engineer – Civil & Infrastructure to oversee technical engineering activities, support project delivery, coordinate with clients and consultants, and ensure that construction works comply with approved drawings, project specifications, quality standards, and contractual requirements.

The ideal candidate will have substantial experience in UAE construction and infrastructure projects, excellent technical knowledge, strong coordination skills, and the ability to resolve complex engineering issues while supporting project teams in achieving project objectives.

Key ResponsibilitiesTechnical Engineering & Project Coordination

• Lead and coordinate technical engineering activities across assigned construction and infrastructure projects.
• Review and interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, design documents, and contract requirements.
• Identify design discrepancies, technical conflicts, and construction challenges and recommend practical solutions.
• Coordinate with clients, consultants, subcontractors, suppliers, project managers, and site teams to resolve technical matters.
• Review shop drawings, material submittals, technical submissions, and method statements before submission for approval.
• Ensure engineering deliverables are accurate, complete, and submitted within project deadlines.

Construction & Site Engineering

• Provide technical guidance to project engineers, site engineers, supervisors, and construction teams.
• Monitor site activities to ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, quality standards, and project requirements.
• Support the execution of roadworks, earthworks, excavation, underground utilities, pipeline works, and other civil infrastructure activities, as applicable.
• Conduct technical site inspections and coordinate with relevant parties to resolve site-related engineering issues.
• Evaluate construction methods and recommend improvements to productivity, quality, and cost efficiency.
• Assist in assessing variations, additional works, and technical changes affecting project scope, cost, and schedule.

Quality Assurance & Technical Documentation

• Oversee the preparation and review of technical reports, inspection requests, inspection and test plans, method statements, and quality documentation.
• Coordinate with QA/QC teams to ensure compliance with approved project quality plans and specifications.
• Review non-conformance reports and implement appropriate corrective and preventive actions.
• Maintain accurate technical records, drawing registers, material approvals, inspection reports, and project correspondence.
• Review and coordinate as-built drawings, handover documentation, and technical closeout requirements.

Planning, Cost & Resource Management

• Coordinate with planning and project management teams to monitor technical deliverables and construction progress.
• Support quantity take-offs, material calculations, resource planning, and technical cost assessments.
• Review technical requirements for procurement of construction materials, equipment, and subcontracted works.
• Identify opportunities to reduce rework, optimize resources, and improve project efficiency.
• Provide technical input for tender submissions, project proposals, and construction planning when required.

Compliance & Leadership

• Ensure compliance with applicable UAE regulations, project specifications, client requirements, and company HSE procedures.
• Guide junior engineers and support the professional development of technical team members.
• Participate in technical meetings, progress meetings, and coordination meetings with clients and consultants.
• Prepare technical updates and reports for project management.
• Proactively identify technical risks and escalate critical issues that may affect project quality, cost, safety, or delivery schedules.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline.
• Minimum 7–10 years of relevant experience in construction, civil infrastructure, or contracting projects.
• Proven experience with roadworks, earthworks, excavation, underground utilities, pipeline works, or related infrastructure projects.
• Strong knowledge of engineering drawings, construction methodologies, technical specifications, and contract requirements.
• Experience coordinating with consultants, clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and project teams in the UAE.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, and relevant engineering documentation tools.
• Familiarity with UAE construction regulations, authority approvals, QA/QC procedures, and HSE requirements.
• Strong technical reporting, analytical, planning, and problem-solving capabilities.
• Excellent communication, coordination, and leadership skills.
• Ability to manage multiple technical priorities and meet demanding project deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience with an established UAE construction or infrastructure contractor.
• Experience in technical reviews, design coordination, value engineering, and construction problem-solving.
• Familiarity with project planning software and document control systems.
• Professional engineering certifications or relevant technical training are an advantage.
• UAE driving licence is an advantage, where applicable.
