We're building and improving bespoke internal platforms, customer and operational tools, CRM and telephony integrations, automation, AI-enabled services and data solutions that support teams across the business. We're looking for a Senior Software Engineer (Full Stack) who can take genuine ownership of software from idea to production. You'll work closely with our Head of Technical Operations and senior stakeholders to understand what the business needs, turn those requirements into well-designed technical solutions, and then build, test, deploy and continuously improve them. This is a hands-on role for someone equally comfortable creating intuitive front-end experiences and building the back-end services, databases, APIs and integrations behind them. RESPONSIBILITIES - Designing, building and owning bespoke web applications, internal platforms, tools and services from initial requirement and technical design through to production deployment and ongoing improvement - Building responsive, accessible and intuitive front-end applications using React and modern JavaScript/TypeScript practices - Designing and developing robust back-end services, business logic and APIs using modern server-side technologies such as Node.js/TypeScript, C#/.NET, Python or equivalent - Designing, querying and optimising relational databases, including SQL data models and reliable data flows between systems - Creating secure integrations between internal applications and third-party platforms including CRM, telephony, AI services, lenders, reporting tools and other business systems - Working directly with operational teams and senior stakeholders to understand problems, challenge requirements where appropriate and translate them into practical technical solutions - Owning the full software development lifecycle including scoping, architecture, development, code review, testing, deployment, monitoring, support and iteration - Building reusable components, services and integration patterns that provide a scalable technical foundation for future growth - Building security, privacy and auditability into applications from the outset, including authentication, role-based access, logging and secure handling of customer and commercially sensitive data - Mentoring less experienced developers or technical team members and helping establish strong engineering practices across the team SKILLS & EXPERIENCE Essential Technical Skills - Strong commercial full-stack software engineering experience, with evidence of personally delivering production software across both front-end and back-end development - Strong React experience together with modern JavaScript and/or TypeScript, HTML and CSS - Strong back-end development experience with a modern technology such as Node.js/TypeScript, C#/.NET, Python or equivalent - Strong SQL and relational database experience, including schema design, querying, performance considerations and data integrity - Experience designing, building and consuming REST APIs and integrating multiple third-party systems - Experience taking software from requirements through architecture, build, automated testing, deployment and ongoing production support - Strong Git/version-control practices, including branching, pull requests and code review, together with experience of automated testing - Experience deploying and operating applications in a cloud environment such as Azure, AWS or equivalent, including CI/CD, monitoring and secure software development practices Working Style & Mindset - Ownership mindset: comfortable being responsible for a solution end to end rather than only one layer of the stack - Commercially minded: able to understand the operational problem behind a request and build the solution that creates the most value - Pragmatic problem-solver: able to move quickly without sacrificing security, reliability or maintainability - Confident communicator: able to explain technical decisions, risks and trade-offs clearly to non-technical stakeholders - Self-directed and proactive: comfortable working in a growing technical function where not every requirement will arrive perfectly defined - Comfortable working in a fast-paced, FCA-regulated environment where data quality, customer outcomes, controls and auditability matter Desirable (but not required) - Experience building software within financial services, fintech, motor finance, insurance or another regulated environment - Experience with contact-centre or telephony platforms such as ConnexAI, Twilio, Five9 or similar - Experience with Azure/AWS, CI/CD, Docker or modern application hosting patterns - Practical experience integrating AI/LLM services, CRM platforms, real-time systems, queues, webhooks or event-driven architecture WHAT THE ROLE ISN’T This isn't a front-end-only, back-end-only or systems-administration role. We need someone who can understand a business problem and build the complete solution around it. You'll be expected to work across the application, database, API and integration layers, take responsibility for what happens after deployment, ask the right questions and help us decide the best way to build solutions around how carloans 365 actually operates. WHAT WE OFFER - Genuine ownership of products and systems that have a direct impact on how the business operates - Opportunity to build bespoke technology rather than simply maintain legacy or off-the-shelf systems - Direct exposure to senior decision-making and the ability to influence technical direction and architecture - A varied engineering environment spanning customer journeys, internal operations, CRM, telephony, AI, automation and data - Opportunity to help establish engineering standards and shape the technical team as the business continues to grow DETAILS - £70,000 - £80,000 per annum (DOE) - Working pattern: 09:00 – 18:00, 5 days per week, Monday – Friday - 28 days holiday (bank holidays are normal working days) + 1 additional day off for your birthday ADDITIONAL BENEFITS - Bupa Private Medical Insurance: access to private healthcare through our company Bupa scheme - Employee Car Scheme: access to our exclusive employee car scheme - Employee Assistance Programme (EAP): confidential support and guidance when you need it - Company Events Pay: £70,000.00-£80,000.00 per year Ability to commute/relocate: - Sale M33 7RR: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required) Work authorisation: - United Kingdom (required) Work Location: In person
