Senior Project Engineer – Control Systems & Automation

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Project Engineer – Control Systems & Automation to work widely in the project management, design & engineering coordination, client handling, inter-disciplinary coordination, supplier management, control panel manufacturing, field experience in testing and work execution of industrial control and automation systems for Oil & Gas and industrial projects.

The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on and project execution experience with Allen Bradley / Rockwell Automation, Siemens and Honeywell control systems, including PLC, DCS, SCADA, HMI, ESD and associated instrumentation and communication systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the project management process of the Control system works.
• Lead the engineering and execution of PLC, DCS, SCADA, HMI, ESD and control systems.
• Develop, review and troubleshoot control logic, PLC programs, HMI/SCADA applications, and system configurations.
• Coordinate control system engineering activities from design through FAT, installation, commissioning, SAT and project handover.
• Prepare and review:
• Control System Architecture
• I/O Lists and I/O Allocation
• Cause & Effect Diagrams
• Control Narratives / Philosophy
• Logic Diagrams
• Panel and Network Architecture
• Instrument and Cable Schedules
• Technical Datasheets and Specifications
• Interface control systems with Fire & Gas, ESD, HVAC, firefighting and other plant systems.
• Configure and troubleshoot industrial communication networks and protocols.
• Review vendor technical documents, drawings, datasheets and engineering deliverables.
• Coordinate with clients, EPC contractors, consultants, vendors and subcontractors.
• Lead technical discussions and resolve engineering and interface issues.
• Prepare technical queries, deviation/concession requests and responses to client comments.
• Support procurement by preparing RFQs, technical specifications, BOQs/MTOs and technical bid evaluations.
• Plan and coordinate FAT, SAT, loop checking, commissioning and functional testing.
• Troubleshoot PLC/DCS/SCADA hardware, software, communication and control logic issues.
• Monitor engineering progress and ensure timely completion of project deliverables.
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to engineers and technicians.
• Ensure all engineering and project activities comply with project specifications, applicable standards and client requirements.

Mandatory Control System Experience

The candidate should have practical experience with one or more of the following platforms, with strong preference for experience across multiple systems:

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation, Control Systems, Automation Engineering or a related field.
• 8-10 years of relevant experience in control systems and automation project execution.
• Strong experience in Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Energy or Industrial Automation projects.
• Proven experience with Allen-Bradley/Rockwell, Siemens and/or Honeywell systems.
• Experience in engineering, programming/configuration, testing, commissioning and troubleshooting of control systems.
• Experience coordinating with EPC contractors, consultants, end users and international vendors.
• UAE / ADNOC project experience will be an advantage.
• Good understanding of international standards and Oil & Gas project requirements.

Preferred Candidate Profile

A hands-on Senior Control & Automation Engineer with strong project execution experience who can independently manage control system engineering, vendor coordination, FAT/commissioning and technical discussions with clients and EPC contractors.

Experience with Allen-Bradley/Rockwell, Siemens and Honeywell systems is highly desirable.
