Job Description - Executive leadership role shaping Jetstar Engineering's safety, quality, compliance and training capability strategy across Australia and New Zealand - Permanent opportunity based at our Jetstar Headquarters in Docklands - Take off with exclusive employee benefits, including our world-class staff travel program Your Opportunity As the Senior Manager Safety, Quality, Compliance & Training , you will lead Jetstar Engineering's safety, compliance, quality and training functions across Australia and New Zealand. Reporting to the Head of Engineering, you will drive safety, regulatory and capability strategies, oversee the Part 147 Training Organisation, lead engagement with CASA, and ensure all Engineering personnel remain qualified, current and competent. This is a key leadership role requiring the independence to uphold compliance standards under operational pressure while fostering a strong safety culture and continuous improvement across the Engineering business. Reporting to the Head of Engineering, you will be responsible for: - Leading Engineering safety investigations, occurrence reporting, risk management and the Engineering Safety Board. - Driving safety assurance through audit programs, compliance monitoring, supplier oversight and continuous improvement initiatives. - Maintaining Engineering's CASA regulatory approvals (Parts 42, 145 and 147), managing regulatory engagement, and ensuring compliance with legislative and airworthiness requirements. - Assessing regulatory change impacts and delivering implementation plans in partnership with Engineering leaders and key stakeholders. - Leading Engineering change management and ensuring risks are effectively identified, assessed and mitigated. - Overseeing all Engineering training, competency and development programs, including the Learning Management System (LMS), Part 147 Training Organisation and workforce capability planning. - Leading, developing and supporting the Safety, Quality, Compliance and Training teams to deliver operational and strategic objectives. - Driving business improvement, maintaining procedures and policies, and building strong relationships across Jetstar, Qantas Group, regulators and industry partners while ensuring compliance with WHS requirements. You’ll have: - A LAME licence or Professional Engineer qualification, supported by tertiary qualifications in Aviation, Engineering, Management or a related discipline. - Extensive knowledge of CASR Parts 42, 145 and 147, with postgraduate qualifications in Safety, Quality or Management and Lead Auditor certification highly regarded. - 15+ years' experience in aircraft engineering, including leadership experience across safety, quality, compliance, training or other operational functions. - Demonstrated success leading high-performing teams, managing regulatory approvals and regulator relationships, and overseeing investigations, audit programs and risk management systems. - Strong strategic thinking, problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to translate strategy into practical outcomes. - Exceptional stakeholder engagement, influencing and communication skills, with the confidence and independence to uphold safety, quality and compliance standards under pressure. - A process-driven mindset, with experience designing and implementing business improvements, and the ability to build strong relationships while leading and developing teams. - Project management capability, exceptional attention to detail, and the confidence to challenge technical and commercial assumptions when required. - Expertise in human factors, safety culture, and the use of data and analytics to drive performance across safety, audit and training systems. - Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (or equivalent) with experience within a high-capacity RPT operator, including leadership of training, capability or learning functions in regulated environments (desirable) - Experience driving continuous improvement and safety excellence through initiatives such as Lean, Six Sigma and High Reliability Organisations (HRO).
