As we continue to strengthen how we manage risk and support sustainable outcomes, we're looking for an experienced risk leader to help shape and deliver critical enterprise risk transformation initiatives across ASB. An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced risk leader to join our Enterprise Risk team as Senior Manager Operational Risk (Leading Risk Management Programme) . This is a highly visible role sitting at the intersection of risk transformation, governance and operational risk management. Reporting to the Head of L2 Enterprise and Operational Risk - LRM Execution, you will lead critical Line 2 initiatives that support ASB's Leading Risk Management (LRM) programme while helping embed sustainable risk outcomes across the organisation. Te tūranga | The role Initially, this role will balance approximately 70% transformation delivery and 30% BAU operational risk responsibilities , with a focus on delivering priority Leading Risk Management initiatives and transitioning outcomes into sustainable business ownership. Key responsibilities include: Leading assigned LRM deliverables across interconnected workstreams, with an initial focus on ASB-CBA engagement, non-financial risk governance, Risk Steward and implementation activities. Translating target-state outcomes into practical Line 2 designs, implementation plans, standards, guidance and sustainable BAU processes. Leading current-state assessments of ASB-CBA governance and engagement, including accountabilities, information flows, reporting, systems and regulatory requirements. Designing and implementing Risk Steward engagement and operating models, including reporting protocols, guides, role expectations and RCSA/CSA integration. Supporting the design of divisional non-financial risk governance and Line 2 reporting, including escalation pathways, governance artefacts and content standards. Partnering with Line 1, Line 2, Policy Owners, Risk Stewards, delivery leads and senior leaders across ASB and CBA to build alignment and secure endorsement. Providing constructive, evidence-based Line 2 advice, review and challenge in line with ASB's Three Lines of Accountability. Managing delivery plans, milestones, dependencies, risks, issues and decisions through to successful implementation. Balancing transformation and BAU priorities while supporting operational risk framework activities and successful change transition. Ō pūkenga | About you You'll be a strategic and delivery-focused risk professional who thrives on bringing clarity to complexity and influencing outcomes across large organisations. You'll bring: Significant experience in financial services risk management, operational risk, compliance and/or transformation delivery. Proven success leading complex, cross-functional risk, governance or operating model programmes from design through implementation and embedment. Strong knowledge of non-financial and operational risk frameworks, governance, RCSA/CSA, risk reporting and Three Lines accountability models. Strong conceptual and systems thinking capability, with the ability to turn complex information into practical, evidence-based solutions. Excellent planning, prioritisation, dependency management and delivery skills. The confidence to influence stakeholders, challenge constructively and secure decisions at senior levels. Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare governance materials and facilitate workshops. Resilience, sound judgement and the ability to navigate ambiguity and competing priorities. A collaborative leadership style and a passion for building risk capability across the organisation.
