We are looking for a Senior Manager to lead and grow our business development in the UAE. This is a senior leadership role reporting to the Management

Converra is a construction and infrastructure advisory group operating across Qatar, the UAE, India and the wider GCC. Our UAE practice is based in Dubai and serves master developers, contractors, government and semi-government entities and lenders across the Emirates. Our practitioners average over 20 years on major projects.

Three verticals:

• Advisory - feasibility, procurement and contract strategy, commercial risk, valuation
• Consulting - PMC and PMO delivery, cost and schedule management, quantity surveying, contract management, project controls, and BIM to ISO 19650
• Claims and Expert Services - delay analysis, EOT, quantum and dispute support

The Role

Build Converra’s client base across the UAE. You own the UAE business development strategy, open relationships at decision-maker level, and convert them into long-term advisory, consulting and claims mandates. This is a senior leadership appointment reporting to the Managing Director. It is an opportunity to shape how Converra grows in one of the world’s most active construction markets, from Dubai’s 2040 Urban Master Plan to rail, data centres and Abu Dhabi’s infrastructure programme.

What you’ll do

• Own and run the UAE BD strategy across buildings, real estate and hospitality, transportation and rail, energy, oil and gas, data centres, industrial, water and urban infrastructure
• Build senior and C-suite relationships with developers, master developers, government and semi-government entities, EPC and main contractors, PMCs, architects and lenders, and law firms that instruct experts
• Identify opportunities through tenders, RFQs, EOIs, prequalifications, vendor registrations and the private pipeline, and lead go / no-go decisions
• Lead proposal strategy, fee proposals and negotiations with our technical leads, and pursue panel and framework appointments
• Cross-sell all three verticals, including Claims and Expert Services to contractors under delay or cost pressure
• Build and maintain a qualified pipeline against agreed revenue targets in AED, and report monthly on forecast, conversion and losses
• Build and run BD processes, tools and the CRM for the UAE and coordinate GCC opportunities with group offices, and guide BD support staff

What we are looking for

Candidates who meet most of these requirements are welcome to apply.

• 15–18 years in business development or client leadership with a construction consultancy, PMC, QS firm, EPC contractor or developer, including at least 8 years in the UAE
• A strong, live network among UAE developers, contractors and government and semi-government entities
• A proven record of winning consultancy mandates, with figures you can speak to
• Experience of tender and prequalification processes, private and public sector, including government vendor registration
• Working knowledge of FIDIC and UAE contracting practice, including claims and disputes
• Degree in Engineering, Construction Management or Quantity Surveying. MBA or equivalent postgraduate management qualification preferred, not essential. RICS, CIOB or PMP is an advantage
• Willing to travel across the UAE and the wider GCC
• Available to join immediately or at short notice (we can be flexible for the right candidate)
• UAE-based or willing to relocate to Dubai; UAE driving licence and Arabic preferred
