About the Division The Academy Services Division provides a range of specialist services to teams across the Academy, to program participants (potential and current) and to external venue hire stakeholders to ensure an inclusive high quality professional learning or event management experience for our stakeholders. The Division's specialist areas include learning design, strategic engagement, and participant, event and program support. About the Team The Learning Design Unit leads the design and development of professional learning at the Academy, delivering high-quality, evidence-informed programs that are engaging, accessible, and impactful for our participants. The Learning Design team: works collaboratively across divisions, using the Academy's Operating Model and Standard Operating Procedures to oversee the full learning lifecycle, from analysis and design to implementation and ongoing monitoring, ensures learning is participant-centred, grounded in effective professional learning principles, and structured through coherent learning journeys that sustain engagement. holds responsibility for the maintenance and publication of Academy's Principles of Effective Professional Learning, partners with the Professional Learning Consultant in the Office of the CEO to shape the Academy's professional learning portfolio. The team manages our Learning Management System, AcademyOnline and develops all digital learning assets, providing strategic direction on accessibility, user experience, digital tools, and learner support. It also tracks program development and impact, using data insights to drive continuous improvement, and maintains rigorous quality assurance to ensure consistency and excellence across all content. About the Role 1X Full time fixed term role until 15th October 2027 The Senior Learning Designer leads the end-to-end design of the Academy's high-quality professional learning programs aligned to organisational priorities. This role provides expert advice and ensures consistent, evidence-informed design practices. The responsibilities of the Senior Learning Designer include: leading end-to-end design of professional learning programs for school teachers and leaders across the government, Catholic and independent school sectors providing evidence-informed advice to internal and external stakeholders to support program development designing high-quality learning experiences across various delivery modes and with a range of innovative digital learning tools building strong partnerships with stakeholders and subject matter experts contributing to standards, processes and continuous improvement. Capabilities Strong expertise in learning design and adult learning principles, ideally within educational settings Experience leading complex and multi-modal program design and development including experience of digital design in a Learning Management System, digital learning tools and platforms Highly developed stakeholder engagement and influencing skills Strong project management capability, organisational skills and ability to manage competing priorities and stakeholder views Ability to contribute to planning and prioritisation. Desirable Qualifications and Experience Relevant experience in learning and digital design, instructional design, or related fields is essential. Tertiary qualifications in learning design, instructional design, digital development or related disciplines are desirable but not essential.
