Senior IT Project Portfolio Analyst – PMO
We are seeking an experienced Senior IT Project Portfolio Analyst – PMO for a long-term onsite engagement supporting a major healthcare organization in Chicago. This role is ideal for a senior IT project-management or PMO professional with experience in project governance, portfolio management, project lifecycle standards, resource planning, and executive reporting. Key Responsibilities Establish and improve IT project-management standards, policies, procedures, and governance practices. Support oversight and management of the IT project portfolio. Define and document standardized project lifecycle processes. Develop portfolio metrics, status reporting, and performance measures. Support resource planning and allocation across projects. Develop and maintain project plans, schedules, milestones, and communications. Track project scope, deliverables, risks, issues, dependencies, and overall performance. Partner with senior management and stakeholders to define project goals and success criteria. Identify scope changes, risks, and potential issues and develop contingency plans. Prepare status reports, proposals, requirements documentation, and executive presentations. Coordinate activities across employees, contractors, vendors, business teams, and technical teams. Estimate resource needs and support project staffing decisions. Conduct post-project reviews and identify lessons learned. Lead or support complex IT projects from initiation through completion. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration , or a related field, or equivalent professional experience. Strong experience in IT project management, PMO operations, portfolio management, or program management. Experience managing project schedules, scope, risks, issues, resources, and stakeholder communications. Experience developing or implementing project-management standards, processes, or governance practices. Experience with project-management or project portfolio-management systems. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work effectively with technical teams, business stakeholders, vendors, and senior leadership. Must be able to work onsite in Chicago, Illinois . The client allows a relevant university degree or significant equivalent professional experience. Preferred Qualifications 7+ years of direct IT project-management experience . Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related discipline. PMP or other PMI certification. Experience with Microsoft Project Server or comparable enterprise project-management tools. Experience with project portfolio-management systems. Experience establishing PMO best practices, policies, procedures, and processes. Experience supervising, mentoring, or leading project professionals.
