MBS is a technology and managed services provider based in Florham Park, New Jersey. We support clients across IT, networking, cloud, VoIP and imaging, and we are bringing all of it under one Technology department so clients get one team and one point of contact instead of three.

This role is central to that. We are hiring our most senior technical engineer to own the infrastructure side of the business.

The role

The Senior IT Engineer is the top technical position in our Technology department and the final escalation point for infrastructure across our client base. You will own how our clients’ networks, servers and cloud environments are designed, deployed and maintained.

This is a hands on engineering role, not a people management role. You will set the technical standard, handle the work that nobody else can, and raise the capability of the engineers around you. You will work alongside our Security and Cloud Engineer, with a clear split between infrastructure and security.

You report to the Head of Technology.

What you will own

• Networking. Firewalls, switching, wireless, VLANs, routing, VPN and site to site connectivity across client environments. Carrier and circuit coordination.
• Servers. Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, file and print services, virtualization. Design, build and lifecycle.
• RMM and patching. Our remote monitoring and management platform, patch policy and compliance across all managed endpoints and servers.
• Deployment. Workstation and server imaging, standards and rollout for new client sites and refresh projects.
• Escalation. Final technical escalation for our support engineers, plus the documentation and standards that keep problems from coming back.

What you bring

• Five or more years in a senior network or systems engineering role, ideally at an MSP or supporting multiple client environments
• Strong hands on firewall, switching and wireless experience, with real troubleshooting depth rather than portal familiarity
• Windows Server and Active Directory administration at a design and build level
• Working knowledge of Azure, including virtual machines, networking and identity
• Experience with backup and disaster recovery platforms, including actual restore testing
• Comfort with RMM tooling and patch management at scale
• The judgment to make a call under pressure when a client is down, and the discipline to document it afterward
• Clear communication with non technical clients, and the patience to teach junior engineers
• Valid driver license and willingness to travel to client sites in northern New Jersey and the surrounding area

Nice to have

• Certifications such as CCNA or CCNP, Microsoft Azure Administrator, or a firewall vendor certification
• Experience standing up new client sites end to end, from cabling coordination through handover
• VoIP or SIP exposure
• PowerShell scripting and automation
• Experience building or improving technical documentation and standards for a growing team

Location and schedule

Based out of our Florham Park, New Jersey office, with travel to client sites as projects require. The team works a hybrid schedule with a standing in office day each week.

Pay: $70,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
