About the Role The Senior HR Generalist supports the manufacturing plant’s people operations with a primary focus on recruiting, onboarding, employee relations, and HR systems. Reporting to the HR Manager, this role serves as a hands-on, day-to-day resource for employees and supervisors on the plant floor, keeping the facility staffed, onboarding new hires effectively, resolving employee concerns, and maintaining accurate HR data. This is an individual-contributor role ideal for an experienced generalist who thrives in a fast-paced automotive manufacturing environment. Key Responsibilities: Manage full-cycle recruiting for hourly, technician, and salaried roles, job postings, sourcing, screening, interview coordination, offers, and pre-employment (background, drug screen, I-9/E-Verify). Build and maintain talent pipelines through job boards, staffing agencies, local vocational/technical schools, and community partnerships to support production staffing and ramp-up. Own the new-hire onboarding and orientation process, prepare new-hire paperwork, coordinate first-day logistics, deliver orientation, and drive 30/60/90-day check-ins to support retention. Serve as a first point of contact for employee relations — respond to employee questions, investigate concerns and grievances, document findings, and escalate complex matters to the HR Manager. Support and help administer disciplinary actions, attendance/point systems, and performance management in partnership with supervisors and the HR Manager Maintain HRIS/HR systems, enter and audit employee data, process status changes, and generate headcount, turnover, and staffing reports. Maintain accurate personnel files and HR records; ensure data integrity and compliance with recordkeeping and data-privacy requirements. Support timekeeping and payroll input by verifying hours, attendance, and status changes in partnership with payroll. Help ensure compliance with federal and state employment laws (EEO, FLSA, FMLA, ADA, I-9/E-Verify) and company policy; support required postings and reporting. Support HR programs and events including open enrollment, employee engagement activities, recognition, and headcount/temp-to-hire conversions. Maintain a regular presence on the shop floor to build relationships with employees and supervisors and stay close to production needs. Other duties and projects as assigned by the HR Manager. Qualifications and Requirements: Required Qualifications ● Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field; equivalent experience considered. ● 3–5+ years of progressive HR generalist experience, with hands-on recruiting, onboarding, and employee relations. ● Experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or distribution environment; automotive industry strongly preferred. ● Working knowledge of federal and state employment law (EEO, FLSA, FMLA, ADA, I-9/E-Verify). ● Proficiency with an HRIS/HR system (e.g., Workday, ADP, Paylocity, or UKG) and MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook). ● Strong interpersonal, conflict-resolution, and communication skills, with the ability to build trust across the shop floor and leadership. ● High attention to detail, discretion with confidential information, and strong organizational skills. Preferred Qualifications ● Professional certification such as PHR/SPHR or SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP. ● Experience recruiting high volumes of hourly/production and skilled technician roles. ● Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus. ● Experience in a startup, greenfield, or ramping manufacturing facility. ● Experience supporting a multinational parent company or coordinating with an overseas headquarters. Working Condition: Manufacturing plant environment Occasional travel to suppliers/corporate offices required. Flexibility to support production shifts as needed. Regular presence on the shop floor as needed Occasional extended hours during month‑end, year‑end, or audits.
