Senior HR Generalist
Senior HR Generalist Location: Dublin, Allenwood and project sites as required Job type: Full time, permanent Salary: Commensurate with experience Schedule: Primarily office and site based Licence: Full driving licence required About the Role Select Group is recruiting a Senior HR Generalist to take day-to-day ownership of a broad operational HR agenda across Select Roofing and Cladding, Select Access and Select Fabrications. This role is best suited to an experienced HR generalist who wants real responsibility and enjoys working directly with managers and employees. It is not a purely administrative position and it is not a detached advisory HRBP role. You will be visible across the business, make sound practical judgements, keep processes moving and ensure agreed actions are completed. Reporting to the Head of HR and Marketing, you will act as the principal operational HR partner for routine and lower-complexity employee relations, recruitment, performance management, employee lifecycle activity, induction, benefits administration and learning and development coordination. More complex, sensitive and strategic matters will remain with the Head of HR, giving you both genuine autonomy and an appropriate escalation route. Key Responsibilities Employee relations and manager support Manage routine disciplinary, grievance, attendance, probation and performance matters from initial assessment to conclusion. Conduct or support appropriate workplace investigations and prepare clear records, findings and recommendations. Prepare and coach managers for difficult conversations and help them resolve issues early. Recognise complex, high-risk or dismissal-level matters and escalate them effectively. Recruitment and resourcing Own recruitment for operative, junior and mid-level positions from role definition and sourcing through to offer and onboarding. Use direct sourcing and appropriate channels to reduce unnecessary agency reliance. Build candidate pipelines for recurring trade and operational vacancies. Maintain pace, candidate communication and accurate recruitment updates. Performance and manager capability Help managers use the Group’s existing KPI, probation and performance frameworks consistently. Turn objectives and performance information into useful management conversations and actions. Follow up incomplete reviews and improvement actions and reinforce line-manager accountability. Support managers until they have the confidence to lead routine conversations independently. Employee lifecycle, induction and development Oversee lifecycle activity from offer and onboarding through changes, development, internal moves and exit. Deliver the HR element of induction and support the wider Group induction programme. Coordinate day-to-day employee-benefit activity with payroll and HR administration. Develop and maintain a practical skills and competency matrix with Operations, Health and Safety, Quality and departmental leaders. Coordinate training priorities, certification visibility and structured development activity. Projects and growth Support projects such as applicant tracking, recruitment improvement, manager toolkits, Chime adoption (HR and T/A system and lifecycle process improvement. Support UK recruitment and onboarding and build familiarity with the developing UK operation. Take on appropriate day-to-day UK HR support progressively as the workforce and framework become established. Experience and Capability Approximately three to five years of relevant HR experience. Demonstrable employee-relations and recruitment experience. Strong practical understanding of Irish HR processes and employment practices. Experience coaching or supporting operational managers. Strong organisation, documentation and follow-through. Confidence using HR systems, Microsoft Office and trackers or people data. A pragmatic, approachable style and the confidence to challenge constructively. Full driving licence and willingness to travel to sites regularly. Experience in a construction, engineering, manufacturing or similarly operational environment is advantageous, not essential. Exposure to learning and development, skills matrices or competency frameworks would also be useful. Previous UK HR experience is not required. Working Arrangement The role is fundamentally people-facing. Regular attendance in Dublin and Allenwood, together with visits to project and operational sites, is essential - a fuel card will be provided. Following successful probation, up to two days of remote working may be accommodated when business requirements allow. Hybrid working is flexible rather than based on fixed days, and operational needs take priority. Working Relationships You will work closely with the HR and Office Operations Coordinator. Both positions report to the Head of HR and Marketing; the relationship is collaborative rather than hierarchical. The Coordinator provides substantial systems, documentation, scheduling and lifecycle-administration support, enabling the Senior HR Generalist to focus on manager partnering, judgement and operational delivery. Application Please submit your CV through Indeed. A short cover note outlining your employee-relations experience, recruitment background and interest in operational HR would be helpful.
