JOB SUMMARY The Senior Financial Analyst/Accountant will play a critical role in providing in-depth financial analysis, forecasting, and reporting to support strategic decision-making within our fast-paced environment, as well as general accounting functions in recording journal entries, updating ledger reconciliations, and providing general insight to the ledger. This individual will be responsible for analyzing project/job/division performance, identifying trends, assessing risks, and contributing to the overall financial health and profitability of the company. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, a deep understanding of various financial metrics, and the ability to communicate complex financial information clearly and concisely. This individual will provide management with timely and accurate key performance information and is the key financial liaison between business function directors and Executive management. OVERALL FUNCTIONS Prepares and distributes weekly financial data related to key company volume trends. Maintains and issues Management Tracking Reports at varying levels (e.g., Income, Margins, Expenses, etc.) on a consistent and accurate basis. Supports accounting team with daily journal entry recording and monthly general ledger reconciliations; i.e. cash, accounts receivable, percentage of completion accounting treatment, etc. Reviews General Ledger account detail and trends to ensure proper postings and proposes journal entries as needed. Performs income statement variance analysis monthly and quarterly; reports findings to management. Assists and meets with all department Directors to prepare budgets on an account by account detail level. Prepares forecasts for all departments based on current trends, market data, and data gathered from internal meetings. Can work in a reactionary environment and has the ability to manage several different tasks at the same time. Acts as a financial liaison for all departments to Finance Dept and Executive Management. Prepares/creates ad-hoc financial reports to support all business functions and decision making. Able to utilize statistical tools to analyze facts of created reports and communicate findings. QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related field; MBA or CFA preferred. 2+ years of progressive experience in financial analysis, specifically within Operations management Strong understanding of construction accounting principles, percentage-of-completion method, and relevant financial metrics (e.g., WIP, retainage, over/under billing). Proficiency in financial modeling, forecasting, and budgeting techniques. Advanced Excel skills (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, financial functions, scenario analysis). Experience with financial reporting software and ERP systems (e.g., Sage 300 CRE, Viewpoint, Oracle, SAP). Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Exceptional communication (written and verbal) and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex financial information to non-financial stakeholder.
