Senior Database Engineer Maria DB & PostgreSQL

Strong production experience with MariaDB/MySQL and PostgreSQL.

• Demonstrated experience migrating production relational databases between platforms, preferably MariaDB/MySQL to PostgreSQL.
• Advanced SQL, query optimization, and execution-plan analysis skills.
• Strong experience with indexing, schema design, transactions, locking, and concurrency.
• Experience supporting large relational datasets with tables containing millions of records.
• Experience diagnosing performance using CPU, memory, I/O, session, connection, and query metrics.
• Experience developing migration, validation, cutover, rollback, backup, and recovery strategies.
• Experience supporting databases in AWS or comparable cloud environments.
• Strong production troubleshooting and analytical skills.
• Own the performance, reliability, and technical health of both production database environments.
• Lead the MariaDB-to-PostgreSQL migration, including architecture, planning, execution, validation, cutover, and rollback.
• Analyze and optimize SQL, execution plans, indexes, schemas, and database configuration.
• Diagnose locking, blocking, deadlocks, transaction contention, and other concurrency issues.
• Optimize database performance for high-volume application and highly parallel processing workloads.
• Monitor CPU, memory, storage I/O, connections, transactions, and overall database resource utilization.
• Establish performance baselines and validate improvements through measurement.
• Maintain data integrity and develop migration validation and reconciliation processes.
• Establish monitoring, backup, recovery, capacity planning, and operational practices.
• Partner with application engineers on database-facing issues while owning behavior from the SQL/query boundary inward.
• Experience migrating large production systems to PostgreSQL
