About the role As part of the Bureau of Technology, you’ll design, build, and scale AI-driven solutions to improve our Customer Care. You’ll join AI for Care, a newly created team made up of data scientists and software engineers, focused on leveraging AI to resolve customer needs faster and create value in areas that were previously difficult to address. For example, you might help us avoid unnecessary returns by intelligently troubleshooting customer issues. This is a highly innovative and impactful area, given the millions of customers we serve. Using LLMs and tools, we have already started building these solutions. You will not only contribute to the thinking and design behind these systems, but also focus on evaluating them and creatively measuring and improving their performance through A/B tests and other analyses of customer behavior, sentiment, and more. What you will do - Identify how to measure and improve LLM behavior and performance, working closely with software engineers. Own evaluations end to end, from problem definition to production rollout, collaborating with stakeholders and relevant teams to design and ship solutions. - Develop, productionize, and operate machine learning models and/or AI applications at scale. This includes integrating and optimizing LLMs for production environments. - Contribute to the development of the AI community within the company by promoting best practices and sharing your work internally to raise awareness of AI capabilities. - Regularly present your work internally through demos, internal conferences, and other formats to technical, engineering, and product stakeholders, helping the business build familiarity with AI-related topics. About you - 6+ years of industry experience in data science or related fields, with a Master's or PhD in a quantitative discipline (Statistics, Economics, Sciences, or Engineering) - Proven track record of leading impactful data science initiatives that solve real business problems, with the ability to mentor and develop scientists, engineers, and peers - Deep knowledge of the ML lifecycle, algorithms, best practices, and hands-on experience with LLMs and Generative AI APIs - Strong ability to design end-to-end AI and data architectures that integrate with existing product systems, data platforms, and engineering infrastructure, with solid Python skills and software engineering fundamentals (testing, code review, deployment) - Proficiency in AI-assisted and agentic coding workflows (e.g. Claude Code), and strong communication skills to convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences Recruitment process: - Call with Benjamin, Senior Talent Acquisition Partner (1h) - Technical screening (30 min) - Technical Interview (1h15) - Stakeholder interview (1h) - Back Market Values fit interview - 45 min WHY SHOULD YOU JOIN US ? ✌🏼 At Back Market, we’re committed to hiring and supporting diverse teams of people from all backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives — it’s one of the reasons we’re such a high-scoring certified B Corp company (93.2).
