By building a new Data Practice at Redhorse International, we are bringing together data science, engineering, analytics and graph technologies to solve complex challenges on behalf of our clients.

We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer, who enjoys solving difficult problems; understands what a good engineering solution looks like and wants to have real influence, from the very beginning, on how and what we build. A Senior Engineer who has strong modelling instincts and wants to learn something new.

Experience with knowledge graphs, Neo4j, entity resolution, Databricks, Spark or Snowflake would be valuable. You do not need to know every tool we use. Strong foundations, sound judgement and the ability to learn matter more than a checklist of technologies.

Much of our work involves bringing together information from a myriad of systems, understanding nuance, relationships and resolving inconsistencies; turning fragmented data into meaningful insights.

What you’ll be working on

As a Senior Data Engineer you will be working across the engineering lifecycle, from understanding unfamiliar data sources through to designing, building and delivering solutions users can rely on.

You will have the opportunity to

• Explore complex datasets, understanding their structure and identifying inconsistencies
• Design data models that accurately represent the real world
• Have access to market leading technologies to assist in making informed technical decisions, balancing performance, maintainability, scalability and client needs
• Lead in establishing good engineering practices, knowledge sharing, collaborate and encourage constructive technical discussion
• Work with a team of likeminded individuals keen to learn new things

We believe that good engineering starts with understanding the data and choosing the right approach.

What we are looking for

We’d be delighted to hear from you, if you have developed strong technical foundations through solving real problems, yourself rather than letting AI do all the thinking! You will have substantial experience of designing and building data solutions, with multiple examples to support your application.

Comfortable working with Python and SQL, building data pipelines and working with complex or imperfect datasets. More importantly you’ll understand that good data engineering is more than moving information between systems; thinking carefully about how data is structured, what it represents and how different sources relate.

• Enjoy understanding a problem before deciding how to solve it
• Explain technical decisions and the trade-offs behind them
• Take pride in producing clear, reliable and maintainable work
• Demonstrate commitment to improving how we engineer, not just completing a task

Pay: £50,000.00-£110,000.00 per year
