You'll be deployed on client engagements across industries including Energy and Agriculture, working alongside client leadership to turn complex business problems into practical, data-driven outcomes. This is a client-facing advisory role. You'll lead discovery, frame the problem and shape the options, then guide delivery teams from requirements through to working data solutions. Success means earning the trust of senior stakeholders, bringing structure to ambiguity, and leaving clients better off than you found them. You'll also use AI assistants to accelerate the path from insight to data designs, prototypes and recommendations. What You'll Do Client Advisory & Engagement Leadership - Act as a trusted advisor to client executives, data owners and product owners - Lead discovery workshops and stakeholder interviews to understand business drivers, decisions and pain points - Frame problems, assess options and present clear, evidence-based recommendations to executive audiences - Build alignment across competing priorities and agree common data definitions across business units - Identify opportunities to extend our impact with clients and contribute to proposals and scoping Data Strategy & Requirements - Translate business objectives into data requirements, including metrics, KPIs, business rules and definitions - Profile and analyse client source data to assess structure, quality, gaps and lineage - Develop data flow diagrams, source-to-target mappings, data dictionaries and conceptual or logical data models - Lead gap analysis and impact assessments for new data initiatives and system changes Solution Delivery - Partner with data engineers, architects, analysts and QA to design and validate data solutions - Shape the design of data pipelines, integrations, reporting layers and analytics products - Own requirements traceability, UAT, data validation and reconciliation through to go-live - Contribute to engagement planning, estimation and risk management Practice Development - Mentor junior consultants and analysts - Help build Blackbook's data consulting methods, templates and best practices What You'll Bring - 6+ years in data-focused consulting, business analysis or advisory roles, including 2+ years in a senior or lead capacity - Proven client-facing delivery and senior stakeholder management experience - Strong SQL skills and confidence querying, profiling and validating data - Solid understanding of data modelling, data warehousing and ETL/ELT patterns - Experience producing BRDs, source-to-target mappings, data dictionaries, user stories and process flows - Strong grasp of the SDLC and Agile delivery, using tools such as Jira, Confluence or Azure DevOps - Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills Nice to Have - Consulting firm or professional services background - Experience with modern cloud data platforms (AWS, Azure or GCP) - Exposure to BI and visualisation tools - Experience with data governance, data quality or metadata management - Python or other scripting for data analysis - Experience supporting AI/ML or advanced analytics use cases Who You Are You're a consultant first. You're curious about data and comfortable digging into it yourself, not just writing requirements about it. You can debate transformation logic with an engineer in the morning and present a data roadmap to a VP in the afternoon. You ask the right questions, cut through ambiguity, and take ownership of outcomes, not just outputs.
