We are currently recruiting a driven and experienced professional to join our Group Risk function. As a specialist in our Financial Crime Risk team, you’ll make an impact by: - Providing timely, pragmatic, and high-quality Financial Crime Risk advice to frontline business units, product owners, and customer-facing teams. - Delivering effective second-line (2LoD) oversight and constructive challenge on the performance of financial crime controls across AML/CTF, Sanctions, Anti-Bribery & Corruption (ABC), and Fraud. - Translating complex legislative requirements (including the AML/CTF Act and Rules) into clear, actionable guidance and better-practice materials that protect the bank, our customers, and the community. - Delivering insightful reporting and management information to business stakeholders and Divisional Risk Committees to support data-driven decision-making. About the role The Senior Analyst, Financial Crime Advisory reports to the Senior Manager – Financial Crime Advisory (within the team supporting the Head of FC Advisory, Training & Assurance). In this pivotal specialist role, you will be at the forefront of supporting the delivery of financial crime advice and second-line oversight across the Bendigo and Adelaide Bank Group. You will play an integral role in operationalising our risk-based approach across all business functions. Working collaboratively across the Three Lines of Defence, you will help evaluate control effectiveness, assist with risk and control assessments (RCAs) and change risk assessments, and oversee the remediation of operational risk events and breaches. Key accountabilities include - Financial Crime Advisory & Support: Deliver timely, accurate, and practical advice on financial crime policy and legislative requirements. Assist business units with operationalising a risk-based approach and developing guidance materials that embed compliance into day-to-day operations. - Second-Line Oversight & Constructive Challenge: Support oversight activities across the Group’s control environment in AML/CTF, Sanctions, ABC, and Fraud. Provide SME support during risk and control assessments (RCAs) and business-led change initiatives. - Risk Assessments & Committee Reporting: Assist in conducting business-wide financial crime risk assessments. Prepare high-quality management information (MI), insights, and reporting for business stakeholders and Divisional Risk Committees. - Breach & Incident Oversight: Assist with Operational Risk Event assessments, root cause evaluations, regulatory reporting requirements, and oversight of mitigation and remediation action plans through to closure. - Stakeholder Engagement & Culture: Build and sustain collaborative relationships across 1LoD business teams, Group Risk colleagues, and external industry peers to foster a robust and transparent risk culture. What you’ll bring to the role Essential: - Demonstrated experience in financial crime risk, compliance, or operational risk advisory within the banking or financial services industry (Line Two / 2LoD experience viewed very favourably). - Sound knowledge of financial crime legislative requirements, regulatory expectations, and industry standards, particularly the AML/CTF Act and Rules , Sanctions, ABC, and Fraud risk management. - Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to evaluate risk situations, interpret complex requirements, and provide balanced, commercial, and actionable advice. - Proven ability to build authentic, collaborative relationships across diverse stakeholder groups, including senior management, 1LoD business partners, and technical risk specialists. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience preparing formal committee reports, memos, and risk commentary. - Highly desirable: - A tertiary qualification in Business, Commerce, Law, Finance, or a related discipline. - Relevant industry accreditation (e.g., ACAMS, CAMS, or equivalent financial crime risk certifications). - Experience conducting risk and control assessments (RCAs), change risk assessments, or managing remediation programs within financial crime. Location & Flexibility This is a permanent full-time position located in Melbourne, Bendigo, Adelaide, Sydney, or Brisbane .
