Meaningful Work From Day One This role is the accounting and tax person for Brown-Forman DACH and the Netherlands, providing support to the Country Accounting Manager DACH and the Netherlands (CAM) in various accounting activities. The role ensures all data is properly accounted for in the financial system using corporate policies and local accounting and tax legislation, ensuring tax returns are accurate and submitted on time, and delivering correct and reliable data. This position also partners closely with the Global Business Solution (GBS) Team, Accounts Payable Specialists, and the CCCA Analyst (Credit, Cash Apps, and A/R) to ensure backend operations are fully covered and accurate. What You Can Expect Financial Reporting: Supervise General Ledger-related activities, including monthly, quarterly, and annual year-end accounting/closing activities, and internal/external reporting. Accrual Management: Prepare and post monthly SG&A accruals and reclasses; calculate/post statutory accruals like disabled compensation levies and social/life insurance contributions. System Oversight: Manage Coupa reports, including unposted invoices and Goods Receipts Not Invoiced (GRNI); load month-end Coupa data (pending invoices/receipts). Prepaid Expenses & Reconciliation: Execute/monitor monthly depreciation/amortization; perform balance sheet reconciliations in Blackline and assist with flux explanations. Closing Procedures: Manage Material Ledger closing (COGS/Revenue recognition) and conduct inventory analysis (SMOG reports, Goods in Transit cleanup). AR & Cash Management: Process manual invoices, clear unapplied cash, and manage vendor discounts. Green Dot Administration: Post and reconcile invoices from "Green Dot" or similar platforms. Tax Compliance: Handle Corporate Income Tax provisions, VAT (tax registers, reports, EC Sales List), and statistical/Bundes Bank reporting. Collaborate with tax advisors/auditors. Internal Controls & Improvement: Identify process gaps, develop SOPs for DACH, provide training on policies, and lead process improvement initiatives. Visual Lease: Maintain car and office lease contracts in Visual Lease, determine US GAAP capitalization, and review transactions monthly. What You Bring to the Table Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Accounting or Finance. Certifications: ACCA, CPA, or similar advanced accounting qualification. Experience: 6+ years in accounting/finance (FMCG preferred); 1+ year as Senior Accountant, Chief Accountant, or similar. Environment: Experience in an international matrix organisation. Technical Skills: Proficiency in MS Office and SAP (FI/CO/MM/BW). Accounting Knowledge: Solid understanding of US GAAP and EU GAAP, including financial statement preparation. Core Competencies: Proven desire to improve processes, ability to work independently in a high-volume/deadline-oriented environment, and excellent interpersonal skills.
