This position will be responsible for a broad range of accounting functions across several subsidiary companies, as well as administrative support related to a Canadian healthcare business. The ideal candidate will have strong accounting experience combined with previous hands-on Medical Office Assistant (MOA) experience in a British Columbia medical clinic or healthcare setting and a solid understanding of BC Medical Services Plan (MSP) policies and procedures . The successful candidate must be detail-oriented, highly organized, able to work independently, and comfortable handling confidential financial and healthcare-related information. Key ResponsibilitiesAccounts Payable Process and maintain accounts payable transactions. Review and process vendor invoices accurately and in a timely manner. Follow up with vendors regarding outstanding invoices, discrepancies, and supporting documentation. Investigate and resolve AP discrepancies in a timely manner. Maintain accurate records of vendor accounts and transactions. Accounts Receivable Process and record customer payments. Prepare and distribute statements of accounts. Follow up on overdue accounts and assist with collections. Reconcile accounts receivable balances when required. Investigate and resolve discrepancies. Banking & Reconciliations Perform regular bank reconciliations. Process and record bank deposits. Investigate and resolve banking discrepancies. Prepare associated financial entries. Perform daily cash reconciliation for cash registers and identify and investigate discrepancies. Reconcile company credit card accounts and follow up with staff to obtain required supporting documentation. Reconcile merchant accounts and investigate discrepancies. General Accounting & Financial Records Maintain accurate and complete financial records for several subsidiary companies as required. Prepare and post accounting and finance entries. Assist with monthly and year-end accounting procedures. Assist with financial reporting and other accounting-related activities. Maintain organized electronic financial records and documentation. Complete e-filing and electronic records retention in accordance with company procedures. Assist with special financial projects as required. Research financial information and prepare clear summaries of findings and results. Payroll & HR Support Assist the HR team with payroll-related activities when required. Provide accounting information and documentation needed for payroll processing. Assist with payroll reconciliations and investigate payroll-related discrepancies as required. Medical Office / Healthcare Administration Provide administrative support related to healthcare operations. Apply previous Medical Office Assistant (MOA) experience to assigned healthcare-related tasks. Maintain accurate healthcare-related records and documentation. Assist with data entry, reporting, and administrative processes. Communicate professionally with healthcare providers, internal teams, and external contacts. Handle confidential patient, financial, and business information appropriately. BC MSP Knowledge Apply working knowledge of British Columbia Medical Services Plan (BC MSP) policies and procedures to assigned tasks. Assist with MSP-related administrative processes and documentation. Research and verify MSP-related information when required. Understand and follow applicable MSP processes and requirements. Maintain accurate records related to MSP activities. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field preferred. 3+ years of accounting/bookkeeping experience , preferably in a Senior Accountant or similar role. Previous hands-on experience as a Medical Office Assistant (MOA) in a British Columbia medical clinic or healthcare setting is required. Working knowledge of BC MSP policies and procedures is required. Strong understanding of accounting and bookkeeping principles. Demonstrated experience with: Accounts payable and accounts receivable Bank reconciliations Cash reconciliations Credit card reconciliations Merchant account reconciliations General ledger entries Month-end and year-end procedures Financial record maintenance Strong Microsoft Office skills are required, particularly Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook. Advanced or strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel , including formulas, data organization, reconciliation, and reporting. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Excellent organizational and time-management skills. Strong written and verbal English communication skills. Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Ability to identify discrepancies, investigate the cause, and follow through to resolution. Comfortable handling confidential financial and patient information. Experience with accounting software and cloud-based systems. Preferred Qualifications Experience working remotely for a Canadian company. Experience working with a Canadian healthcare, pharmacy, or medical clinic. Experience supporting multiple companies or subsidiaries. Experience with QuickBooks or similar accounting software. Experience assisting with payroll. Familiarity with Canadian accounting practices. Strong research and reporting skills. Experience creating and maintaining Excel spreadsheets for financial reporting and reconciliation. Contract This is a full-time contract position for a Philippines-based independent contractor. What We Are Looking For We are looking for an individual who can take ownership of accounting responsibilities while also understanding the administrative requirements of a Canadian healthcare environment. The ideal candidate will bring together strong accounting skills, hands-on MOA experience, knowledge of BC MSP policies and procedures, and excellent Microsoft Office skills. The successful candidate should be able to work independently, identify and resolve discrepancies, meet deadlines, communicate effectively, work confidently with Excel and other Microsoft Office applications, and provide accurate and reliable support to management.
