We’re looking for a highly organised and proactive Scheduler / Planner – Operational Support to join our busy Engineering operation. Working alongside an established colleague and in close coordination with our Engineering Team and Operational Support Manager, you’ll play a key role in keeping the day-to-day operation running smoothly. This is a varied and fast-paced role focused on planning, coordination and operational support. You’ll manage engineering jobs from initial request through to completion, coordinate engineers’ schedules, arrange equipment and materials, monitor progress and respond to changing priorities throughout the day. No two days are quite the same, and your ability to stay organised, think ahead and solve problems will have a direct impact on how effectively our Engineering Team operates. If you enjoy organising people and workloads, solving problems, managing changing priorities and seeing things through to completion, this is an opportunity to become a genuinely important part of our operation. What you’ll be doing Working alongside your colleague and the wider Engineering Team, you will: - Plan and coordinate engineers’ daily workloads, ensuring resources are allocated effectively and jobs are completed within required timescales. - Manage reactive and planned maintenance jobs from start to finish, taking ownership of the process and keeping everything on track. - Coordinate with customers, engineers, suppliers and colleagues to ensure everyone has the information they need. - Respond to incoming service requirements, signalling reports, emails and operational requests, assessing priorities and taking appropriate action. - Coordinate urgent and reactive work, helping to determine priorities and the best allocation of engineers. - Raise and issue quotes, arrange equipment and materials, and track orders and deliveries to support successful job completion. - Monitor outstanding work and proactively follow up on appointments, equipment, information and actions. - Maintain accurate job records and operational information. - Identify potential issues before they affect delivery and find practical solutions quickly. - Work closely with the Operational Support Manager and Engineering Team to ensure work is planned and delivered efficiently. - Provide a professional and helpful point of contact for customers when required, building strong working relationships throughout the process. What we’re looking for Experience within the Fire & Security industry would be advantageous, but is not essential. Full training will be provided, and we’re also keen to hear from candidates with strong scheduling, planning, coordination or operational experience who are looking for their next challenge. We’re looking for someone who: - Is highly organised and enjoys planning, coordinating and keeping multiple moving parts under control. - Can confidently prioritise competing demands and remain calm when things change. - Has excellent communication skills and is comfortable dealing with engineers, customers, suppliers and management. - Takes ownership and uses initiative rather than waiting to be told what to do. - Has strong attention to detail and understands the importance of accurate information. - Enjoys problem-solving and can think on their feet. - Is confident using computers and learning new systems. - Works well as part of a team while being capable of managing their own workload. - Gets satisfaction from seeing a job through from initial request to successful completion. Why this role is different This is a role for someone who wants to be actively involved in the operation and make a real difference to how work is planned and delivered. You’ll work alongside an experienced colleague, sharing responsibility for keeping the Engineering operation organised and ensuring work continues to move forward. You’ll be balancing engineer availability, customer requirements, reactive issues, planned maintenance, equipment, deliveries and deadlines — often making decisions, solving problems and adapting plans as the day develops. You’ll become an important link between the office and the Engineering Team, helping to ensure our engineers have the right jobs, information and equipment to get the work completed effectively. It’s a position where being organised and proactive genuinely matters. When things run smoothly, it’s because you’ve helped make them happen.
