Role/Team Overview The Electronic Execution desk is part of the Global Cash Equities business. Electronic Execution—often referred to as "Low-Touch"—is one of three primary execution channels through which institutional investors interact with cash equity markets via Citi. Our platform equips Long-Only asset managers, Hedge Funds, and Wholesale clients with market-leading algorithmic strategies to access electronic order books across multiple execution venues, alongside Citi's principal liquidity via the Central Risk desk. The Algo Trading function is responsible for monitoring, optimizing, and supporting internal and external utilization of electronic trading strategies. Internal trading desks supported include, but are not limited to: Program Trading, Developed Markets (DM) Cash Trading, Emerging Markets (EM) Cash Trading, Delta One Trading, Derivatives Trading, and Systematic Execution Services (SES). On a day-to-day basis, Algo Trading collaborates closely with the Electronic Sales Trading team to: - Monitor all algorithmic flow into the platform and act as the first line of support for all internal desks. - Act swiftly and make split second decision on best course of action during production outages to minimise business risk and exposure. - Oversee the deployment and configuration of client-specific algorithmic parameters and ensure execution behaviour aligns with expected outcomes. - Investigate and resolve real-time operational and execution issues encountered by sales traders or clients. - Monitor and incorporate market events—including corporate actions and newly listed tradeable securities—ensuring accurate onboarding, routing, and execution within Citi’s algorithmic engines. - Partner with Quantitative Research (MQA) and Technology teams to deploy new algorithmic features, enhancements, and platform optimizations. What you'll do - Algorithmic Framework Mastery: Develop a deep technical understanding of the algorithmic trading framework and decision engines; dynamically adjust trading parameters to reflect changing market microstructure and conditions; and provide actionable quantitative and operational feedback to MQA to drive iterative strategy improvements. - Execution Monitoring & Facilitation: Proactively monitor live algorithmic trading flows, risk controls, and market dynamics, intervening when necessary and liaising with internal trading desks and clients to facilitate single-stock cash equity executions. - Platform & Process Optimization: Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to enhance business operational efficiency and contribute to building resilient, industry-leading execution systems. - Risk & Control Partnership: Operate in close partnership with key control and governance functions, including Compliance, Electronic Trading Risk Management (ETRM), and Electronic Trading Risk & Control (ETRC). - Governance & Ethical Leadership: Champion a culture of responsible finance, robust governance, comprehensive supervision, disciplined expense management, and high ethical standards. - Regulatory Licensing: Obtain and maintain all required professional registrations, regulatory qualifications, and licenses within the prescribed timeframes. What we need from you - Professional Experience: Prior experience in a front office production support role, ideally within electronic trading is preferred. - Technical & Market Microstructure Expertise: In-depth knowledge of equity algorithmic trading protocols, Smart Order Routing (SOR), exchange order types, auction mechanics, and intraday/closing execution technicalities. - Communication & Stakeholder Management: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to build collaborative relationships across clients, sales traders, quantitative researchers, and technology partners. - Education: Bachelor’s degree / University degree or equivalent professional experience (quantitative, finance, engineering, or technical discipline preferred).
