Sales & Operations Manager
Hours: Approximately 45 hours per week Working Days: Friday to Tuesday Days Off: Wednesday & Thursday Typical Hours: Approximately 10:00am–7:00pm Working Pattern: Rota-based and flexible depending on events and operational requirements Role Overview The Hive London is looking for an organised, commercially minded and hands-on Sales & Operations Manager to support both the sales and operational sides of our busy venue. The successful candidate will be responsible for generating and converting enquiries, managing clients through the booking process and ensuring that events and bookings are properly communicated and delivered by the operational team. The role will also have direct responsibility for managing a team of Event Supervisors , together with one or two Sales Operatives depending on business demand . This is a varied role requiring someone who is equally comfortable speaking with prospective customers, carrying out venue viewings, managing bookings, supervising staff and being present on site to ensure events are delivered to the required standard. As this is an events-based position, flexibility is essential. Although the average working hours will be approximately 10:00am–7:00pm , working hours will vary depending on the event schedule, with later finishes or adjusted start times required where necessary. Key Responsibilities Sales & Bookings Respond to new sales enquiries quickly and professionally. Sell the venue's event spaces and associated facilities. Manage enquiries from initial contact through to confirmed booking. Conduct venue viewings with prospective clients. Prepare and send quotations and booking information. Follow up enquiries consistently to maximise conversion. Maintain accurate records of leads, bookings and customer communication. Work towards agreed sales and revenue targets. Identify opportunities to upsell additional spaces, services and facilities. Build relationships with repeat clients, event organisers, suppliers and corporate customers. Ensure customers receive clear information regarding venue rules, timings, access and requirements. Event Planning & Coordination Manage clients through the planning stages following confirmation of their booking. Gather all required event information ahead of the event date. Coordinate timings, supplier access, room requirements, security and other operational requirements. Ensure event information is correctly communicated to all relevant departments. Produce clear event handovers and operational information. Liaise with external suppliers including caterers, decorators, DJs, production teams and other event contractors. Identify potential problems before events and ensure they are resolved. Venue & Event Operations Support the day-to-day operation of the venue. Ensure event spaces are correctly prepared ahead of bookings. Carry out pre-event checks and ensure rooms are presented to the required standard. Meet clients and suppliers on site where required. Oversee event setup and ensure agreed arrangements are followed. Provide operational support during events where necessary. Deal with client or operational issues professionally and efficiently. Coordinate with security, cleaning, catering and venue staff. Ensure events finish and spaces are handed back correctly. Report any damages, maintenance issues or operational concerns to management. Team Management Manage and supervise the venue's team of Event Supervisors . Manage one or two Sales Operatives , depending on sales demand and business requirements. Allocate duties and ensure all team members understand their responsibilities. Ensure Event Supervisors receive clear handovers and event information before each booking. Monitor staff performance and maintain high standards of customer service and event delivery. Support the sales team with enquiries, viewings and follow-ups when required. Help organise rotas and ensure appropriate staffing levels are in place for both sales and events. Provide training and guidance to Event Supervisors and Sales Operatives. Ensure company procedures and management instructions are consistently followed. Escalate any performance, conduct or operational concerns to senior management where necessary. Administration & Reporting Keep booking systems and customer records accurate and up to date. Ensure deposits, balances and other required payments are monitored. Liaise with accounts regarding outstanding payments where necessary. Provide management with updates on enquiries, confirmed bookings and upcoming events. Maintain clear records of operational issues and event feedback. Monitor sales team activity and follow-up performance. Help improve internal processes across both sales and operations. Person Specification We are looking for someone who is: Confident and professional when dealing with customers. Sales-focused with the ability to convert enquiries into confirmed bookings. Highly organised and able to manage multiple events and enquiries simultaneously. Comfortable managing and supervising a team. Capable of giving clear instructions and holding staff accountable for their responsibilities. Comfortable taking responsibility and making decisions on site. Reliable and capable of working independently. Strong at communicating between clients, sales staff and operational teams. Able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Computer literate and comfortable learning booking and venue management systems. Flexible regarding working hours due to the nature of the events industry. Available to work Friday through Tuesday , including weekends. Previous experience within events, hospitality, venues, sales, operations, team management or customer service would be beneficial. Working Hours & Pay The position is paid at £13.50 per hour and will be based on an average rota of approximately 45 hours per week . The standard working week will be Friday to Tuesday, with Wednesday and Thursday as the normal days off . Typical working hours will average approximately 10:00am to 7:00pm , although these will need to remain flexible depending on event schedules. Some days may therefore require earlier starts or later finishes, with the rota adjusted accordingly.
