The role will be responsible for developing and maintaining strong relationships with Travel Agents, Tour Operators, Destination Management Companies (DMCs), Online Travel Partners, Corporate Travel Planners, Wholesalers, and other travel trade partners to generate room nights, revenue, packages, and group business across the portfolio. The ideal candidate should have strong knowledge of the travel trade market , an established network of travel partners, excellent negotiation skills, and a proven track record of achieving sales targets in the hospitality industry. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES1. Travel Trade Business Development Develop and execute strategies to increase business from the Travel Trade segment. Identify new Travel Agents, Tour Operators, DMCs, wholesalers, and travel companies. Develop new accounts and strengthen relationships with existing travel partners. Generate room nights and revenue across all hotels in the group. Promote the group's hotels, destinations, packages, and special offers to travel trade partners. Identify new market opportunities and develop business plans accordingly. Achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual Travel Trade revenue targets. 2. Travel Agent & Tour Operator Relationships Establish and maintain strong relationships with key Travel Agents and Tour Operators. Conduct regular sales calls and meetings with travel trade partners. Understand partner requirements and develop customized commercial proposals. Negotiate rates, packages, allotments, and business terms within approved guidelines. Maintain regular communication with key accounts and ensure repeat business. Develop long-term partnerships with high-value travel trade accounts. 3. DMC & Wholesaler Business Develop business relationships with domestic and international DMCs and wholesalers. Identify opportunities for FIT, GIT, MICE, leisure, and group travel business. Negotiate annual and seasonal contracts where applicable. Monitor production from contracted partners. Review account performance and develop strategies to increase room nights and revenue. 4. FIT & Group Business Generate FIT and Group bookings through travel trade partners. Develop packages and promotional offers in coordination with hotels and Revenue Management. Work with travel partners to identify upcoming group movements and destination requirements. Coordinate with hotel sales and operations teams for group requirements. Ensure smooth conversion and execution of confirmed business. 5. Contracting & Rate Negotiation Coordinate with Corporate Sales, Revenue Management, and individual properties for travel trade rates. Negotiate commercial agreements within approved pricing and contracting guidelines. Ensure contracted rates are commercially viable and aligned with business strategy. Maintain an updated database of contracted partners and agreed rates. Monitor rate competitiveness and market trends. 6. Account Management Prepare and maintain a portfolio of key Travel Trade accounts. Categorize accounts based on revenue potential, production, and business opportunity. Develop individual account plans for major travel partners. Conduct regular business reviews with key accounts. Track production and identify opportunities to increase share of business. Ensure excellent partner servicing and timely resolution of issues. 7. Sales Calls & Market Visits Conduct regular face-to-face and virtual meetings with Travel Agents, Tour Operators, DMCs, and other trade partners. Develop a structured weekly/monthly sales call plan. Visit key travel markets across India as required. Participate in travel trade networking events and industry meetings. Represent the hotel group at trade shows, travel exhibitions, roadshows, and B2B events. 8. Travel Trade Events & Promotions Plan and participate in: Travel exhibitions Trade fairs Roadshows Travel agent meets B2B networking events Product presentations Familiarization trips (FAM Trips) Sales missions Coordinate with properties to conduct joint promotions with travel partners. Develop tactical promotions to generate business during low-demand periods. 9. Cross-Selling Across the Hotel Portfolio Promote multiple properties within the group based on destination, price segment, and guest requirement. Create cross-selling opportunities between hotels. Recommend alternative properties when the preferred hotel is unavailable. Maximize group-wide revenue rather than focusing only on individual properties. 10. Market Intelligence Monitor competitor rates, packages, promotions, and market positioning. Track travel trends, destination demand, seasonality, and customer preferences. Monitor competitor hotels and their Travel Trade strategies. Provide regular market intelligence and recommendations to Corporate Sales Leadership. Identify emerging markets and potential new source markets. 11. Revenue & Target Management Achieve assigned monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets. Monitor room nights, ADR, revenue, production, and account-wise performance. Develop action plans for underperforming accounts. Focus on profitable business and quality revenue. Maintain a healthy pipeline of prospective accounts and upcoming business. 12. Coordination with Hotels & Internal Teams Coordinate closely with General Managers, Hotel Sales Teams, Revenue Management, Reservations, and Operations. Communicate travel trade requirements clearly to the respective properties. Ensure confirmed bookings are properly followed up and serviced. Coordinate special requests, group requirements, packages, and partner commitments. Ensure timely communication regarding rates, availability, promotions, and restrictions. 13. Sales MIS & Reporting Maintain accurate and timely sales reports covering: Account-wise revenue Room nights ADR New accounts acquired Existing account production Sales calls Business leads Conversion ratio Group enquiries Confirmed business Pipeline business Market-wise performance Travel partner performance Provide regular reports and business updates to Corporate Sales Leadership. KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS (KPIs) The Sales Manager / Senior Sales Manager – Travel Trade will be measured on: Achievement of Travel Trade revenue targets. Growth in room nights generated through Travel Trade. New Travel Agent / Tour Operator account acquisition. Revenue generated from key accounts. Account retention and repeat business. FIT and Group business conversion. DMC and wholesaler production. Average rate and quality of business generated. Sales call productivity. Conversion of enquiries to confirmed business. Growth of business across the hotel portfolio. Travel Trade event and roadshow effectiveness. Accuracy and timeliness of sales MIS. CANDIDATE PROFILEEducation Bachelor's degree in Hotel Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, Sales & Marketing, or equivalent. MBA / PGDM in Sales & Marketing will be an advantage. Experience Sales Manager: 6–10 years of relevant experience in hospitality sales, preferably Travel Trade. Senior Sales Manager: 8–12 years of relevant experience in hospitality sales with strong Travel Trade exposure. Proven experience in dealing with Travel Agents, Tour Operators, DMCs, wholesalers, and travel companies. Strong understanding of the Indian travel trade market. Existing network of travel trade partners will be an advantage. Experience handling multiple hotels or a hotel group will be preferred. REQUIRED SKILLS Strong Travel Trade sales expertise.
