This is a hands-on role combining direct responsibility for sales, customer relationships, equipment utilisation, and operational performance. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving revenue growth, winning new business, managing key customer accounts, and ensuring the efficient day-to-day operation of the division. Working closely with company directors and operational teams, you will play a key role in establishing the division as a trusted supplier of specialist arboricultural equipment and services while ensuring the highest levels of customer service and operational efficiency. This role would suit an individual with strong commercial instincts, industry knowledge, and the ability to balance business development with practical operational management. Key Responsibilities Sales & Business Development Take direct responsibility for achieving sales and revenue targets. Identify and secure new business opportunities across the arboricultural, forestry, utilities, construction, and grounds maintenance sectors. Build and maintain strong relationships with new and existing customers. Help prepare quotations, proposals, contracts, and commercial agreements. Develop strategic customer accounts and maximise repeat business. Monitor market trends and competitor activity. Represent the company at trade events, exhibitions, and industry networking opportunities. Maintain an active sales pipeline and provide accurate forecasting. Operations & Equipment Management Manage the day-to-day operation of the equipment division. Coordinate equipment allocations to maximise utilisation and profitability. Work closely with operational teams to ensure customer requirements are delivered efficiently. Oversee equipment availability, maintenance scheduling, servicing, and compliance. Manage supplier relationships and equipment procurement. Ensure high standards of customer service and operational delivery. Monitor equipment performance, downtime, and utilisation. Maintain operational records, compliance documentation, and reporting requirements. Skills & Experience Required Essential Proven experience in a sales management, business development, operations management, or commercial management role. Demonstrable track record of winning new business and achieving sales targets. Experience within arboriculture, forestry, plant hire, construction equipment, access equipment, or related sectors. Strong customer relationship and account management skills. Excellent negotiation and communication abilities. Organised, self-motivated, and commercially astute. Ability to manage both sales activities and operational requirements. Full UK driving licence. Desirable Knowledge of arboricultural equipment including wood chippers, stump grinders, MEWPs, tracked access platforms, cranes, forestry machinery, biomass production plant and specialist vegetation management equipment. Experience managing operation, equipment fleets, or service delivery functions. Existing relationships within the arboricultural, utilities, infrastructure, or local authority sectors.
