Shopping at Noteworthy is an experience, not a transaction. We are looking for a Sales & Marketing Manager who is commercially sharp, highly organized, and genuinely enthusiastic about independent retail — someone who takes ownership of results, represents the brand with distinction, and brings the discipline and creativity to grow what we’ve built. Role Overview Partnering with the Creative Director, the Sales & Marketing Manager drives revenue growth and brand awareness across both store locations and our new Shopify ecommerce store. This role owns the marketing calendar, manages our relationship with our external marketing agency, contributes to market buying trips, and ensures a consistent, elevated brand experience at every customer touchpoint. This person collaborates closely with location teams in both Richland and Ann Arbor, serving as the connective thread between stores on all things sales and marketing. Regular travel between both locations and occasional travel to regional and national gift markets is a core part of the role. Key Responsibilities Sales - Develop and execute promotional campaigns, seasonal sales events, and in-store activations designed to drive traffic and increase average transaction value - Monitor sales performance across both store locations and ecommerce; identify trends, flag opportunities, and surface recommendations to ownership on a regular cadence - Support the development and launch of Noteworthy’s proprietary wholesale product lines, including identifying potential retail partners, managing listings on platforms such as Faire and Abound, and developing potential sales opportunities at national trade shows. Marketing & Community - Build and manage an annual marketing calendar that coordinates campaigns across email, digital advertising, in-store events, and community channels - Serve as the primary day-to-day contact for our external marketing agency — providing brand direction, reviewing content, and holding partners accountable to the Noteworthy standard - Plan, execute and represent Noteworthy at community events, in-store activations, and sponsorships that position our shops as destinations within the communities we serve - Manage advertising placements across local publications, digital platforms, and industry directories; track results and adjust spend accordingly - Build and maintain relationships with complementary local businesses and community organizations to generate referral traffic and co-marketing opportunities - Coordinate with the Creative Director to ensure brand consistency across both Richland and Ann Arbor locations — seasonal displays, printed materials, in-store signage, and customer communications Ecommerce - Manage and grow our Shopify ecommerce store, including product listings, promotional updates, site merchandising, and performance monitoring - Plan and execute email marketing campaigns and customer loyalty programs, including promotional sends, product features, and customer retention sequences - Coordinate with our marketing agency on paid social and digital advertising that supports ecommerce and in-store goals - Monitor ecommerce analytics and share findings with ownership; recommend and implement improvements to conversion, traffic, and customer experience Qualifications - 5-8 years of experience in sales, marketing, or a closely related role; specialty retail, gift, or consumer goods experience strongly preferred - Demonstrated ability to drive measurable sales or marketing results — you can point to specific outcomes you contributed to - Hands-on experience with Shopify or a comparable ecommerce platform - Experience managing or collaborating with an external marketing agency or creative vendor - Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage a promotional calendar and multiple concurrent projects without losing focus - Polished, professional, and poised — your communication style and personal presentation reflect the standard we hold for the brand - Comfortable with regular travel between Richland and Ann Arbor, and occasional travel to national gift markets - Genuine enthusiasm for independent retail and curated lifestyle brands — this category is something you care about, not just a job you’re qualified for Nice to Have - Graphic design or art direction experience (Adobe Products Suite) - Experience in the gift, home goods, or specialty retail industry - Familiarity with major gift trade markets such as Atlanta Market, Dallas Market, or Las Vegas Market - Experience with wholesale platforms such as Faire or Abound - Proficiency with email marketing tools (Klaviyo or similar), Google Analytics, or Meta Ads Manager Why Noteworthy? - Direct access to ownership and genuine influence over how a growing, creative brand expands - A business with real ambition — two strong locations today, with more on the horizon - Variety that keeps the work interesting: market buying trips, community events, ecommerce strategy, in-store activations - A collaborative, independently owned culture where good taste and commercial instinct are equally valued - The opportunity to leave a real mark on a brand people in our communities genuinely love Pay: $70,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year Benefits: - 401(k) - Dental insurance - Flexible schedule - Health insurance - Health savings account - Life insurance - Paid time off - Parental leave - Vision insurance Work Location: In person
